well, the Expandora came home, and it's much healthier than it was. it still doesn't seem to do anything on the overdrive/crunch settings, but the fuzz/forbidden settings...holy camoly! it rips like a mofo, and is the hugest/densest fuzz i have other than the 3-knob Great Wall. i'm dying to get home so i can play with it some more. you should hear it with weirdly voiced maj7 chords. i thought i was Kevin Shields for a minute or 2. i can live with the lower-level settings not working...if i need them (which i really don't because i have the Distortion+) i can always get one of the Expandora IIs with the red knobs. big ups to BetterOffShred for fixing it for me. now i need to get a Yamaha FX500.

It just sounded weak on the overdrive and crunch settings to me, but yeah pretty yawn. The forbidden.. sweet Christmas! It rips so hard. Glad it's working better, I have lust for one after visiting with yours.

So what exactly does the forbidden mode add to the circuit?

The toggles just switch in and out some resistors in the gain stage of the 308. Ones 560 and the other is a 1.1k. The instrument type toggle switches between two values of input cap. Most of the schematics I looked at have a 1uf input cap so I'm guessing the switch toggles in a bigger value. Maybe something huge. I didn't trace it honestly.

it's *supposed* to make it bassier. to me, it just seems to make it even more OTT. which is a *good* thing.

On the way to me soon is a pedal kit, which means I'm going to have to give some thought to what I do with/to the enclosure.
