Not glitch, but pitch. That led me back to one of my favorite Pitch Pirate demos:

I've yet to try one, but I've always been super intrigued by both his sound design and aesthetics. Gorgeous!

So, tell me about the Alexander Syntax Error. Been recording a lot lately, and sometimes I kinda miss a ring mod or weird delay or something, just a simple and fun effect I can throw at the end of the chain to add some glitchy personality. Can do this in Ableton or play around with stuff I have, but remembered that the Syntax Error is a thing, and it seems to do some stuff I like. What's everybody's experience with it? Shortcomings or weird workflows one should be wary of? I'm not typically a fan of distinct modes on a pedal, would rather be able to have all functionality available at once, but the Syntax Error at least seems to cover a specific niche.

I have and like the Syntax Error.
I wish it had a low-pass filter on the time stretch mode. But I love it going reverse slightly slowed down.
The cube mode is simple and gross sounding.
I don't like the s&h ring mod as much as the one in my drolo pedal but it's still pretty good.
The freq mode is fun and useful.
You need to remember what the secondary functions are for the knobs to get the most fun out of it but I found it pretty intuitive.

I love and still use my Syntax Error. Try it in the loop of a delay. Crazy!

Another lover of the Syntax Error here.

Especially love the Stretch mode for interlude's between songs ( ;
The ring mode can get really dreamy mod tones and can also get the sitar tones which we use for some songs.

in addition to everything that's been said, the demos do a real good job of presenting the sounds available. Also, it has presets which for a pedal like this makes it extremely useful in both a recording scenario and live.

Interesting, thanks for the insight!

I'm still not a fan of secondary functions on knobs or having to switch modes a lot to get access to the different sounds, but with the limitations of the spin chip I get that this is the way to do it. Looked into some demos, and there are definitely some awesome sounds in it. Guess it comes down to workflow - I'm imagining using it along with my Possessed as an off-board device to mangle my signal into broken videogame oblivion. I should probably try one out.

Finally got the Particle V2 two days ago, but barely got like 2 hours to play with it.

So far it seems that it exceeds my expectations, controls are highly interactive but in a really logical way, so the learning curve on this it's gonna be easier to me compared to similar pedals.

For UC: the LPF secondary function on feedback could be what you were asking for: very useful to tame those high frequencies, but I still need to see how good it works, honestly I was much concentrated on trying the different patches so far.

I wish I could take a decent video of it but I won't be able until late august.

Update: confirmed, Particle 2 is my favourite glitchy/granular device ever. Been jamming it a lot and I find new sounds each day. I m even thinking about buying some sort for small midi controller just to save more than 4 presets because it does so much stuff.

On the other hand I recently purchased a Tensor and I'm not sure how I feel about it. NEXT mode is really good and there are a couple of loop settings I like, but I'm not sure if it's gonna stay for long on the board. Most of the settings I enjoy are nice to add constant movement below the mix, but in a two-piece band context like mine it doesn't cut trough the way I wanted. For sure it greatly rewards live manipulation so i've been thinking about building that external footswitch to see if I can get what I want from it.
BTW I updated it to the last firmware and I don't hear all those "pops" and signal problems people were talking about when it was released.

This is good news. I ordered a Particle 2 myself the other day. :snax:

I did not like the Tensor (only tries the original firmware).
