I wouldn't skimp on contact mics if I were you. Hunt down a Barcus Berry pre-amp.

It's a hand-hammered piece of metal. It took a lot more work to make that than it did to make a $300 boutique fuzz pedal clone. This guy make neato stuff. I would like to get some of his gamelan strips or bar thingies.worra wrote:I mean, it's a $250 piece of scrap metal. I think it's warranted.UglyCasanova wrote:Sprinkle, sprinkle.

Yeah, i've been looking at those too. Thinking about getting a few strips or octagongs to try out....... maybe just start out with D minorUgly Nora wrote:worra wrote:

Not to get all "you just went full 'what's a VCA ' again" but You need a piezo pre-amp or it's going to sound like shit. It's an impedance thing.Ruiner wrote:Actually ordered this:D.o.S. wrote:I wouldn't skimp on contact mics if I were you. Hunt down a Barcus Berry pre-amp.
although i didn't get the preamp with it.... is there a reason i would want to? I figured i could just hook it up to my Electronaut M67 preamp and run it through some tubes for color that way too.

You literally just bought the least essential element.
Advise.. don't drop those pickups.. they are made to be stuck on a piano and not moved around.. if you do drop it and it stops working pop it apart and put the little stick back in place and it will work fine againRuiner wrote:D.o.S. wrote:Not to get all "you just went full 'what's a VCA ' again" but You need a piezo pre-amp or it's going to sound like shit. You literally just bought the least essential element.ok so I'll just run my preamp through a VCA. Problem solved!
Maybe I shouldn't elaborate too much so I can sell mine off first. This just isn't for me and does not live up to my expectations of how I wanted to use it. Had to try it since I loved the idea it offered in demos.MrNovember wrote:Yeah someone needs to dissuade me a little from that onechrisdermo wrote:Do go on....codetocontra wrote: Stereo Field arrived yesterday.
