Does the Surveyor retain more mids compared to Clang, which is almost always super scooped?
More mids, still a bit scooped but a nice amount depending on the tone controls, particularly when I'm boosting mids with elements and using a mid-present guitar etc. But also it doesn't have the insane ultra-high end of the Clang/Driving Notion that it turns out destroys my ears and I hate it. Like dog frequencies or something, there's just
too much of the really high high end. Sounds nice when recorded and can be EQ'd a bit, but it was irritating to play with. I've got funny ears and my specific other gear setup though so IDK if this is just me.
The Clang has some cool sounds and it does a thing that only it does in my experience, but to me the Surveyor is just perfect, and a much more usable range of sounds for my personal tastes. I can really find a use for this pedal on any settings depending on context. Surveyor is much more "normal" I guess is maybe the summary

I don't think they're that directly comparable sonically, other than a vague (driving) notion of clang-y Shellac tones. Side by side they're night and day.
