Re: Pretty Years
Shipping starts on my birthday, couldn't be more excited! Space carved out right at the end of my board.
Listening to my Lenses Alien LP currently. Probably my most listened to album 4-5 years ago. Memories hitting hard. You guys playing that Little Rock show with like 20 people showing up
.....the whole scene falling apart. My first real band falling apart. Not ALL bad memories though! This album got me through a lot.
I think Pretty Years couldn't have come at a better time for me, I can't wait to really delve into it. You guys are magic.

Re: Pretty Years
OKAY
everyone's packages shipped today and should be arriving sometime before the weekend except for international orders which take the normal time. i'll be sending everyone emails tomorrow with tracking info and a link to download a user manual (though one was included!). please take note and read it before using the pedal - i know it's hard to do that but i really would like you to since there are a few little notes that are important - i'll list them here (taken directly from the manual:
*there are very low and very high frequencies generated by the filter that potentially could be damaging to speakers at high volumes so please be smart and use caution.
*two small quirks (one you already know about):
#1 no signal or high-pitched whine upon initial power up. to fix, simply disconnect and reconnect power to Pretty Years and you should now be able to use the pedal normally. this process may need to be repeated on each initial power up (after being unplugged) but should function normally once completed. #2 tube ringing when engaging pedal and/or when switching certain toggles. this affects some units more than others. any ringing should dissapear after 5-10 seconds and will be unnoticeable on louder/dirtier settings. if ringing persists simply turn down gain, volume and/or treble slightly.
*as this is a TUBE-based pedal it may require a few seconds to warm up when first plugged in. in addition, please remember that these tubes are more fragile than your components in your standard pedals and thus Pretty Year should be handled with care.
an additional note about the quirks:
#1 - this happens like weirdly sporadically. i haven't figured out why occasionally the power is funky but i'm using different jacks than normal and additionally a fairly complex power situation in the pedal. in any case, if it does happen all you do is unplug power and plug in again and the problem is fixed. i have not experienced any continued issue when the power stays plugged in and PY gets turned on/off repeatedly and i've had a unit running for weeks now. it's literally only when you first plug it in. if i viewed it as a legit problem i would have refunded everyone but really it's more of a slight inconvenience at best... obviously if anyone has any *other* issues, please just email me at once.
#2 - the ringing is less pronounced or unnoticable in some pedals and more pronounced in others. if it bothers you, you can put PY in a true bypass loop and you won't get any bypass ringing though some will still persist when switching certain toggles. higher gain modes in general or sonically busier inputs tend to cover up any of it anyways.
settings sheet -
i included a settings sheet with 4 of my own ranging from simple to pretty weird that should help as a starting point for anyone feeling a little intimidated by the amount of controls. for a basic -fairly clean/nothing- sound -
set the 3-way toggles to center and all of the others down - (low cut down as well if you need a little bit more bass)
gain knobs at minimum, bass/treble close to noon, volume wherever, bias at 3 o clock
the back of the sheet has 4 spots for you to write in your own settings as well and i highly encourage people to share their findings here. things are pretty different based on the input source so some sounds might not be the same on a setting on your vintage, low-output pickups vs a drum machine.
anyways, yall are very supportive and i appreciate it to no end so thank you endlessly to everyone who ordered or was even remotely interested. i love every opportunity to create something a little different and this was really fun for me.
