It's really fun. If you dig clangy solid state distortion then it's awesome. If you don't, then you might not like it. Feels like more of a specific and niche thing on guitar compared to the Rusty Box being just an all round good bass preamp. I believe the main difference is indeed a tweaked tonestack, and the adjustable boost. It's scratched quite a specific itch for me, but it feels like a bit of a one trick pony.

It doesn't take many drives that well, too. It's taken me a while to find the right thing to go before it. Some stuff like bassier fuzzes it just seems to chew up and sound weird and muddy. Mini and perc seem to work well. Had success with a Turbo Rat circuit too. I'm yet to find anything that works as well as the boost that's in it to goose it, but I'm using it as one preamp in a bi-amp rig so I can't use that.

How do you like the polarized flutter? I thought about grabbing one but it seems like it would be underserved on a guitar pedalboard.

Pretty incredible, one trick pony type thing... The fuzz is unreal loud and not usable for me. I have it just through my right channel. I play in socks mostly which allows me to get the effect out of the pressure plate just fine. Really wonderfully tuned pedal and the one unique and impressive sound it achieves is worth the space to me. However I do think about having a polymoon there instead tho.

qersty wrote: Damn I missed this one! Really nice! What's the Ex Machina reverb? Never heard of it before. CA wah looks nice, I miss having a wah but I'm worried it will turn me into a fucking cornball. Quantum mystic is sick as fuck too! Forgot about that one, had my eyes on it for a while but idk the reasoning i didnt get it
Hey sorry for the late reply, the Ex Machina is basically a halfway point between a Reverberation Machine and a Meteore. I had the chance to grab one for cheap so I did :) It's pretty cool.
As far as the wah goes I just use it to do slow filter sweeps and I like to linger on the points in the sweep where the more dissonant harmonics start to shine out. Probably could have just bought an Evil Filter for the same thing but I'm not known for my intelligence... and the Quantum Mystic is one of those pedals that's unlikely to ever leave my board. I'm a big fan of Yob and Mike Scheidt so it's got the bonus of being both a cool dirt and homage to one of my favorite players.

Back in the GAME

Image

Work in progress (having some switchers made for the Enzo and Tensor, and plan to add another dirt pedal)
Metro 20 HC w/ Truetone CS6 mounted underneath + EBS cables

Gonna force myself to stick with the Metro 20 because it's perfect carry-on luggage size and I'm sick of selling and re-building every time I move

The heyday of devis were rare indeed. Cheap fuzz, millions of variants, tons of mods, surprise custom duals...
I have a modded Hyp that I still rock on the regular. (Which was apparently the first thing I commented on when I joined ILF??? Stanimal ended up selling it to me: viewtopic.php?f=149&t=10190) :!!!:

I got this Hyperion from jrmy, and I don't even know what the switches do, other than make it sound even cooler. It's also a Stanimal, I gather. (ETA: As mentioned in your post!)
