I literally got the LAST 24 fret Valkyrie III from Kurt in full black before they disappeared off the site last year. But I want a backup and I just don't dig the classic SG shape like I should. God forbid I spend more than $300 on a guitar that I am going to personally customize. Hell I'd buy them unfinished with no electronics. The old ones apparently were blown out on clearance for fucking $99. I've really been wanting a Valkyrie I or II. I don't think I've ever seen one used. :/

I missed out on one with gibson dirty fingers and p94 a month or two back for half the price and I'm still pissed I didn't jump on it.... :oldrant:

I'm GASing for a 7 string, but I have a policy against ordering guitars without playing them first. Too many variables. I tried out a 7 string at GC today and the thing was basically unplayable. Imagine my reaction had I ordered it and it arrived like that. Sure, it could be solved by the guitar tech but it's a hassle. I would love a SG style 7 string but I think I would have to resort to ordering it, who knows when one of those will pop up locally.

Meh, I don't have room for another guitar anyway.

This is why I learned how to work on my own guitars. Pretty much no matter what condition it comes in in I can get it playable in an hour and setup for my strings and what ever tuning I want. Most of us here use thicker strings and different tunings so even if we buy off the shelf we still have to get it set up for us. But I can definitely see your side, a lot of times I'd wished I had been able to hold it in my hands before putting the money down, but I guess I'm a risk taker living life on the edge hahaha

And you always have room for one more guitar.... :thumb:

Continuing the OT discussion on 7-string SG-types, I gotta say I'm pretty tempted by this:

I've never built a guitar before, but how hard could it be? =) Burn that body a little, stain it a dark walnut, hit it with Tru-Oil....

I've put together a couple of kits before. They can be easy but you will probably run into a couple issues building it. As long as you are comfortable with a couple tricks like glueing a dowel in a hole and redrilling in the correct spot, or using shims, you should be fine. I got these sheets of ceder for cooking that are super thin and they became invaluable when putting these kits together. The pickups and tuning pegs you will want to toss and upgrade but the rest of the hardware will work. i'm almost tempted to grab one of these and build it to offer to you guys

What kind of finish would you want?

Dude, I would totally pay you to build one for me too. A simple black finish would suffice, but let me know what you're willing to do. Let me know how much you would charge for the service.
