Is there any reason you have all the modules from the same brands next to each other? The bottom row on the rack. Seems kind of weird, but I don't know anything about modular. Wouldn't it make more sense to keep modules you like pairing closer together rather than sorting them by manufacturer?

Yeah, this was by design. Each row is in its own case too, this way I can just grab a couple rows and be good to go. This is for reasons, but also to make it easier to learn. From a certain point of view I look at it as I've got three unique main "systems" that are simpatico. That bottom right IFM row is an instrument on its own. The R*S Serge row to its left is an instrument on its own, same with the Mannequins row. Then I have a drums row, and a CV row, controller row, mixers row etc. So, if I'm in a IFM kinda mood I can just grab that row and be good to go. This has been really nice as a way for me to learn the modules on their own and also how they interact with their individual designers vision. Real fun starts when instead of using IFM as a "voice" I use it as a modulation source for the Serge row, or the Serge modules modulating the IFM, or IFM on Mannequins and etc. IFM and Mannequins are both heavily influenced by the whole west coast Serge philosophy, but have their own very unique things going on too. I'm sure I'll get to rearranging things the more I learn and start developing a more focused workflow etc. but this way has let me dive into several different setups and approaches at once without being too terribly overwhelmed

Great idea, that makes sense :thumb:

That actually makes a lot of sense. Looking forward to hearing/seeing a full setup demo ;) :!!!:

I'm calling it now, UG is secretly Alessandro Cortini.

I think they inadvertently chose the right item for me. :idk:
Yeah I wouldn't mind having a crack at one of them.
Can you let us know how you find the flute mode with fuzz?
And yes, that is what she said.

I met Alessandro once, he is a really nice dude. So if that is the case, that's just extra pleasant.

On a serious note, UG, I've recently been thinking about those touchpad, Buchla sort of interfaces for synthing (mostly because you keep getting them and porning it up around here with them), but does anyone make one to control midi?

Future Retro just released a nice one (512). Has a ton of stuff in it for a music easel inspired controller. The BEMI one is midi too.

Elby Designs has one (for euroserge) coming out someday. Any of the eurorack ones with midi to cv in like a small synthrotek case.
Cells (I think) looks neat. Pressure points of course too. Verbos and Sputnik make some easel inspired ones for euro.

There are schamtics out there though and maybe you can kinda make your own tunable one and get a midi to cv converter for.doepher or something.

No really budget option.

Ribbon might be another path.

Nothing like the 222/223 out there though (that I know of)

I was actually experimenting with that very mode using my Sofa Car Effects Violet Ram's Head Muff clone earlier. It sounded incredibly massive, eerie, and demented. Kind of like a choir of care bears melting in a nuclear apocalypse.

Another fun experiment was to run fuzzes and drives into the front end of the Mel9 and blend in various synth textures. A few winning combinations were orchestra + DOD250, saxophone + Holowon Static Egg, and low choir + J. Rockett WTF.

I also plan to run the Mel9 through my Hotone Krush and Enchanter Effects MKII Tonebender clone and to blend in other gain sources in my current collection. Amazon made the best mistake in the history of my membership today. :thumb: :)*

And I just scored this on sale from PGS:

I havn't really spent any time researching midi controllers, but I would assume there are also cv to midi converter/modules that open up the possibilities in euro. hmmm, I've got Eowave's The Persephone ribbon synth and it has midi in/out, off the top of my head I have always been really interested in finding a good deal on a secondhand Continuum fingerboard midi controllers

Commissioned Mark at Make Sounds Loudly to build me a little rat thing. Two rats, one box, clipping options, built it disgustingly fast, shipped it out today, generally excited. Will disassemble and etch it when it's here, may change knobs too but wasuP:

Be aware that some people have issues with this kind of touchpads depending on their skin humidity/conductivity, basically. Try these things at least once before buying, just in case.

Di-fucking-hibs on the flip. This is probably the only pedal that could replace my Turbo Rat (which I just recently realized is LM308 equipped!) because I could have a classic Rat running into the Turbo, or vice versa based on what sounds best. MSLP is probably my favorite"small-scale mostly clones" builder. His pedals always look awesome.

I need a grubby octave pedal to use with my SK-1 on my "ambient" board as a bass synth. I used to have a Blue Box that turned that thing into the tastiest mono synth on the block.
