Took me over an hour to fine tune my tone with that goddamn Ironheart. I'm not complaining, I'm just excited it has so much EQ variation.
well done on the amp...i use to have one and did a few demo's on it...they are really good sounding amps, with the right cab. The dirt on it can get proper doomy...i would have to say that as far multi-channel amps, this was my favourite and if ever go down that route, this would be near the top of the list.

All this recto talk has really reignited my gas for an old two channel dual rectifier.
Like the 5150 the Dual Rec does have some fizz that can and should be dialed out. Sounds great after that. Loving mine.
I wish I had held onto my older 2 channel Dual Rec. I regret the trade I made for it and even though I haven't played guitar in a band in a while, I was able to get some great tones out of it with a P90 loaded LP in an old band. I almost never used the red channel, just the orange and never had a problem with it being fizzy, but I almost never dial in a lot of top end on amps.
i used to have an older two channel rack mount dual rectifier, i.e.- "the racktifier". i don't know if there's truth to it, but there used to be talk of how the rack mount ones had some difference that made them sound particularly good. to my earls, all of the old two channel ones sound sick. i loved that amp. the effects loop seemed noisy the little bit i tried to use it. i wanted some reverb to be either just on the cleans or post amp dirt, so it was my only attempt at using an effects loop. it was kind of noisy. other than that, i loved that amp. it sounded killer. fantastic amp dirt on that thing. i used the red channel and everything. i used it for a bit in a dual rig with my old 5150. it was pretty awesome, but it also kind of inspired me to sell the 5150 and try something else. then i used it for a bit in conjunction with a jcm 800 2203 with various dirt pedals in front. that sounded killer and would have been even better if i had the dirt pedals i've had since then. that was when i was first getting into pedal dirt. i was becoming really enamored of single channel amps at the time at the time and really wanted to get rid of it to get another single channel for a dual rig. as much as it would be cool to have it, and i really kind of wish i did, i don't regret trading it. i traded it for my current jmp 2203, which has been my main amp for years now. not only do i love that amp to death and plan to have it forever, in the years since then the jmp has gained value substantially more than the racktifier, so in the long game i came out way ahead. i would never be able to afford a jmp now. i've come back around a bit though. while i really shunned multi channel amps for a while, i'm a lot more open to them now. while i doubt i could see one ever becoming my main live amp or anything in my current band, i kind of wish i could have another rectifier. it did sound good. and they often sound awesome in the right hands. never really loved the three channels as much. the two channel ones, while being high gain as fuck, seem to have a little more old school kind of EQ balance and way more mids.

Did a little bit of a cosmetic upgrade on this 5150 that I just got. I fucked up and ordered 1 yard of tolex instead of two so i had to split it and join the seams on each side and I cut one end just a tad bit short. I think if it starts peeling I may either just redo it all together or take some black duct tape and tape the sides down. Not bad for my first time doing tolex if I say so, but if I had of ordered the length I needed it would have came out way better.
I dig it, where did you order the purple tolex from? if it's mojo then I know to go there cause I know they have it. But the normal place I go doesn't have any and I have a client in a month that wants a purple 412.

Yeah the wood looks good but I was looking through some old pics the other day and got all sad because I didn't have my purple 2204 so I figured I I'd mess around with this one.

Also looks good.
I got the tolex and knobs from ebay. newoldsound is the user who sold the tolex. They have lots of different kinds on there and they have fast shipping. I've done business with them a few times before and never had a problem with them.
