That is actually insanely cool. Have you tried cutting cassette loops though? I know I'm the unrivaled champion of hack jobs, but I found it to be the most finnicky and annoying thing ever
I love playing with tape loops, but I hate making them.
I'm usually a pretty chill guy, but cutting and splicing tape loops is one of the few things that brings out my rage!!
That tape-synth-thing looks pretty dope though.

I miss getting shit in the mail every other week.

I don't even have my pedalboard with me right now.

Yeah that's how it works, you can see it in one of the videos on the site. I'm thinking this will be like an ink jet printer...you buy it for a reasonable price, but the real product they sell is ink cartridges. Maybe his business model is selling the cassette player over and over when they break ?

Yeah, i actually want to know how that tape player does in terms ov whether it destroys the motors and/or tapes, and if so, how quickly. It's not something i'm getting now, especially as i JUST moved away from a sequencer with CV capabilities, but i feel like that tape device, a CV sequencer, and a drum machine could get a lot done. Get some tapes of Enya, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, or instrumental pop tracks. I don't know. Things with no internal drum beats or lots of nice vocal tracks doing kind of melodic wordless shit. Buuuuut, for the time being i could probably approximate what i'm thinking in the Octatrack that should be arriving in the next few days.

Or take the drive shaft out of a cassette player and attach it to a crank to spin it at any speed. Or attach it to a computer fan motor (and burn those out). That is what I used to see people do (the crank one...I may have just thought of the fan motor or maybe I've seen it, but I am sure someone has done it...I dunno). Actually, I have a lot of walkmans I bought sitting around

. I was going to make a ring mod out of them

Yeah I did that in elementary school as a project (remove the spindle + attach to crank).
Eddie Arnold and Paul Anka sound like real hellions when you play them slowly, let me tell you.
