That is actually insanely cool. Have you tried cutting cassette loops though? I know I'm the unrivaled champion of hack jobs, but I found it to be the most finnicky and annoying thing ever
Nope, never made those. You dont necessarily need to do that with this thing though. You just gotta rewind the tape every now and then

That's what I actually do with most of my tape loops haha

we just made a very small number for fun.
Maybe they're trying to avoid a sudden onslaught of "yo, I'll buy twenty and sell them for twice what I paid"?

I wanted one of these until I found out how complicated it is to integrate it to a guitar only set up.well,no complicated, but just not as straightforward as I'd wanted I to be. Then again it's not designed for guitar loops, so watevs.
Ideally, the Octatrack will sequence my outboard equipment, i can run up to two stereo instruments back into the OT as thru tracks to use the OT's effects on them, i can sample the incoming tracks and fuck around with pre-loaded samples, and if i'm running two stereo instruments in i won't need a new mixer. So it saved me a bunch of money to go this route, sort of. More importantly it will save me space. I'm excited about it, though, since the music i'm making right now can do a lot with a good quality sampler, and the sampler i have/had is good but quite primitive in comparison. Simply having a screen to look a the waveforms is going to be a game changer for me.

Oof. Possibly. The learning curve is gonna be absurd, i know that. And i'll mostly be playing it with headphones on the road. But whenever i land somewhere and make friends with a smart phone owner, i'll try. I'm getting it in time to play this show before i leave town, so if i've learned it by then, i will have a video of the set, i hope.

Can someone tell me about these pickups? They look rad...and I've been meaning to get some some hand wired pickups. I have two crap guitars that need whole new pickup configurations. Would prefer to do three humbuckers each that can split. Although open to ideas.

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I saw the site and their products. When the time comes, the Frost Giant has my name on it for the "percussive" qualities.
"For those that love feedback, grind... and good looks" That's about 2/3 of me...

so cool, but.. wow, talk about overcomplicating things.
i'll just go over here, to my corner, and record a 12 sec clip of whatever i want played, then play it in pitches on my op-1.
or sp-303.
or anything, really.

I think this has a unique quality to it though. Well, I am not too familiar with the Op1, so I don't really know the capabilities, but hear me out. Now, the info on the website, and Brandsmannen comment about looping seem to presuppose that you are using short clips and/or one constant tone and then changing the pitch on each key with the knobs. What I am thinking would be neat is if you have a very long changing tone or even a more complicated arrangement lasting several minutes. Then, as it plays back, since it is constantly changing, you don't really know what you are going to get as you press the keys which is further modified by each pitch knob. So, I think you will be able to create some pretty weird random stuff with it. Plus, how can you go wrong for $285?
