Beautiful, isn't it?

Basically it's an LFO with a built in vca, so you can send out controlled modulation bursts/envelopes, like so:

Bought at eBay for a very low price. As my other Hotone pedals it's an awesome unit! It has a very nice breakup at the highest gain levels and with the Tone and Warm knobs it can create very smooth sounding overdrive. The signal maintains very clean in low gain settings. It has still enough power to boost the signal with the output volume knob and it is almost noise-free as far as I can tell after having tested it for some minutes through my tube amp. A really cool unit! I'm pleasantly surprised.

holy crap UG! I've been seconds away from getting the Patch Box several times. I gotta hear your thoughts on it after you've had it for a minute!

Get some modulation sources to go with that Clouds... If money is not too much of an issue, something like a Xaoc Devices Batumi could be a very efficient but powerful compact solution, for example.

Thanks for the recommendation, any other thoughts about other modules appreciated too :joy:
As far as modulation for it goes I've got an SSF Ultra Random, and a Pittsburg Detect envelope follower should be delivered today. Just ordered an addac303 muscle sensing to use with it too. I'm mostly interested in building around the clouds, and swapping that out for the Phonogene i also have on the way. Lol i've already got more modules than fit in the patch box. But i think those are the main modules that I'll be working around. Also going to be looking into filters/resonators, and wavefolders. and and and...

The Ultra Random is quite deep (in terms of features, not module size), even for someone with lots of modular experience there's a lot to process in there... But it should be a good addition to the Clouds.

What would probably be good even in a small case like this one is, if you plan on dedicating it to processing external signals, to split the incoming signal, process it through different modules and then mix everything before sending it to the output. With that in mind, a module like the WMD/SSF Blender could be great because it has two manual crossfaders and a voltage controlled crossfader. So in the end you can use this to mix up to 4 signals, get mixes of different effects, get dry/wet control, etc.

As for filters, something small would obviously be preferable. I do like my Intellijel uVCF. It can be used as a great sinewave oscillator too when self-oscillating, which is often useful. The WMD/SSF MMF is similar and seems quite good too (never tried it though).

If you use Modulargrid, post a picture/link of what you have/what you want (and explain what direction you want the thing to go in) in the modular thread and people can give pointers without squatting this thread too much ;).

Woah woah woah woah WOAH. USING A PHONOGENE AS AN FX PEDAL. :omg: :barf:

With all your purchases recently it's like you're putting together my personal wishlist of gear at the rate I didn't think was humanly possible.

I am 100% sure you're going to want the Rainmaker, as it is clearly the big dog module of the year, and the most advanced delay in eurorack by far. It's still available for preorder at Detroit Modular and Perfect Circuit, but I wouldn't expect it to be around for long. DM just updated their listing with "Landing Thursday!" :yay:
Also look into Audio Damage for some top quality effects modules, especially the Spectre (granular freeze).
