Fucking score.
Well done you sir.

Actually, pelliott, if I've just managed to catch you, would you mind if I pm'd you sometime about your work related stuffs?
Thinking about a change in direction and I just want to know if I have any skills that might give me a foot in the door of the whole rehabilitative exercise world.

I was sitting at my desk at work when UPS dropped off a guitar sized box with Chicago Music Exchange and Reverb logos all over it. I signed for it, checked out the label and my name was on the tag. I went to Reverb and my email and my PayPal to see if I somehow bought something in my sleep, nothing. Opened it up...

1981 Gibson SG Standard.

It's almost identical to the one I sold a couple years ago, which was my prize guitar, to pay bills. Except that one went cheap, because I bought it nearly destroyed and refurbished it from the ground up to look kind of like this one and this one is all original with a cooler teardrop style burst (mine was white, painted over yellow, refinished to be brown to black burst). I was losing my mind trying to figure out where this came from, everyone I know was denying knowing anything. Finally figured out from Reverb customer service that is my dad, after they gave up the first name. So I went out into the wood shop and gave him a big ole hug and kiss on the cheek (and then helped him with some heavy lifting for good measure). Almost made me cry, he knows I've sold off most of my prized possessions to pay bills over the last few years, so this was a crazy and heart warming surprise.

It's pretty cool. I'm 37, been playing music since I was 16 and this is the first time my dad ever bought me any gear. Kind of crazy, very unexpected. Being a grandpa has softened him up a lot.

DUDE. That got me a little teary. I saw you post about it on Facebook the other day, and that you were able to wind up with it (and from such an important cat in your life, no less) is one of those little things that makes me think our species just might make it. :thumb:

I finally got a chance to tune it up and play it this morning, was busy cooking dinner and watching my son all night yesterday after work. It sounds and plays good. Definitely needs new/heavier strings and a good cleaning and setup, but it is a damn cool guitar.
