I used to talk to Skip on Talkbass, here and FB. First he quit posting on TB, then he dropped out of FB, then his ILF posts tapered off. Hopefully he pops his head in to let us all know he's still kickin.

In Sleep news...I went down to my studio in West Oakland to jam with a friend and saw Matt Pike wandering around which isn't too weird although I usually see him there in the afternoon. High on Fire's room is on the third floor like mine but down a different hallway. Tonight though he went into the room next door to mine and we could hear Sleep working on new material which he later confirmed when my friend asked him. Very classic Sleep riffs so far with Al's hypnotic and syncopated baselines. I'm really glad to see they're doing something new.

I don't think they've ever said they weren't jamming new stuff but it doesn't seem like it's a priority for any of them to release it, given the fact that their three other bands are significantly more active artistically?

It's been a long time between drinks for Neurosis hasn't it?
Maybe now HoF has its new one out they'll get down to business?
Also I like your Pike quote. That was a good interview.

The last Neurosis record came out in 2012? But they've been doing some (comparatively) heavy touring for their 30th.
However I was talking more about Om and High on Fire, who are sort of 'actual bands' compared to Sleep, if you will?

Ah yeah, that's right. They have been busy doing the live thing.
Yeah the HoF schedule is usually packed tight, Om less so?
Having said that I think sleep and HoF have been down here with about the same frequency since the Sleep reunion tours (I may be very wrong about that).
I know bands usually have way more going on stateside and in Europa as far as touring goes, but we've been seeing a let down here for most bands (of their following) schedules these days, so I use that as a sort of benchmark.
Which, again, may be unwise.

I think the last thing Om did was an EU tour during the fall, so they've been quiet for a hot minute.
