To tune those rugged oscillations and squeals. At least that's what I assume.
UC can you please do a run-through/demo video for that sweet assed setup? I need the deets!

jwar wrote:UC, seeing as how it would be pretty hard to step on that set up, I'm assuming it's for non stringed instruments. Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...why tuner? But then again, why tuner anyway? Do we tune now? Did I miss a memo on ILF?
I thought that everybody has a TU2 that looks like it's been dragged to hell and back through a hedge, backwards.

Mingus is right. It's for tuning the oscillators of the LAL MNP-2. The instruments are all present on the board, jwar. Pocket piano, synth/sampler/drum machine (iPad), percussion (scrap yard) and noise/drone (LAL).
I might demo it once I've finalized the setup. I'm still going to switch out some pedals for various reasons.

Needs a spectrum Analyzer

I don't understand the concept of tuning oscillators. Can you just do a demo of that? LOL

basically an oscillator will oscillate at a certain frequency which your hear perceives as a note. Changing the frequency changes the pitch of said note. And by varying the pitch and using a tuner, you can set that note to an arbitrary one. Like a D. Or G. or A.

Bro since when is being in tune cool? I seriously feel like I'm out of the loop here.

I guess when playing with other people or within a setup of multiple instruments.

Burn!
UC which apps are you running? I know you've got Animoog, but what else? I mainly bought a bunch of DAW/Groovebox type stuff and I realized it's better as an instrument than an 4 track. I need some more synths and effects and stuff.

Which Ipad do you have? Do you have a way to run your guitar into it?
I have a huge list of awesome apps I post every time the iPad is brought up, but if you tell me what you're looking for I can help.
As for synths, the best sounding synth right now is the Moog model 15, but older ipad essentially burn when running it.

Any time you've heard an oscillator it's playing a note, right? That's why it's not white noise (which is all frequencies represented equally, which is why it's "not musical"). Notes are just sonic frequencies -- if you want to tune an oscillator to a particular note without doing it by ear, a tuner is the easiest way to do that.

I think I have an iPad mini 3? It's pretty recent and runs everything smoothly. I do have an iRig 2 so I can run guitar into it, but I'm more interested in making synth sounds with it!

the Mini3 should run anything just fine for the foreseeable future.

That was a burn? Is that because I play alone? It's a choice for the most part, so I don't feel burnt. Lol
DOS thanks for the explanation. I'm not big on oscillation, so I've never tuned them in any way when I've used them. I'm very much a child of chaos. Plus I'm lazy lol.
