kinda funny tangent - not sure if they still do it but when autolux got started they COMPLETELY covered their boards in electrical tape so it'd be trickier to figure out what they were using aside from the line-6 DL4 for looping and whammys (whammies?) for pitch shifting.

Why two compressors in a row? Different settings? Is that moreso for bass? And why at the end? I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my Fairfield accountant, and if it should be at the beginning, middle, or end of everything.

Why 2 in a row? there are many reasons
- the difference in the settings is very slight, I have them set about the same. The reason is in stead of turning up the amount of one compressor you are compressing the signal twice which does several things: it lets you have two different very controlled levels of compression that is selectable, does a better job limiting without having a excess amount of pumping, gets you that super squishy rubbery sound without volume variations, makes things sound bigger without actually getting louder, quelling envelope filter spikes. Also this a a pretty normal way of using compression in a studio situation.

More for bass? :idk: I started playing around with multiple comps because of Tony Levin and some of the things I read him say and because I love his playing, he also uses a lot of compression on stick too, I "think" that is one of the reasons for the anologman bi compressor.. but I think to get into using 2 you would first have to really like using 1..

The placement in your chain has to do with what you are doing, I like having it that way to control volume AFTER all my effects, my guitarist uses a orange squeezer in at the beginning of her chain as a slight boost or to add definition/attack/sparkle or something… it never gets turned off so at this point I'd say her sound is all about a orange squeezer into a marshall with the gain on about 6.. And yeah… the one at the end of my chain is pretty much always on, it just makes everything sound punchier to me :idk:

Thanks mudfuzz! That's a lot to consider. Ill spend some time listening to that guy. I'm unfamiliar with him right now.
All the reasons make sense! More experimenting must happen.

I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Evo on the Roger Blade avatar.
Classy move.

I'm waiting for knobs on the bq, then I'll get em up.

The Orion vs uverbia is tough. They really can't do each other very well. The Orion is very bright and doesn't go fully wet.
The uv is like a black hole with the option to get pretty bright. The controls on both are very different so it's a toss up to what you like. I like the Orion in front and the uv last.

Honestly I've been searching for a good surf drop hoping one of those would do it.

The best one I've found so far... Digitetch digiverb ($55 used). And it's going to be damn hard to beat.
