Tried to downsize from 12 pedals, and after taking off things and eliminating repetitions, im back to 12 pedals.

(Obviously not my usual settings for the fuzzes)

The only thing I feel I'm missing is a tremolo but I'd use it so infrequently, it's hard to justify adding it and finding the space. Oh, and I'm probably gonna swap the Micro Amp for my Distortion+ once it gets back from being modded.

When I see the 2-knob Fuzz War online, I feel like mine has a weird third nipple or something.

Pretty satisfied with my personal muff choice, but if I had the bones I'd try a buzzz to see if it could replace my beloved fz-2. And I desperately want an ambienty washed out reverb+delay pedal. Anything else you considered before ending up with the RE-20? Im gassing for an Avalanche Run, but dont wanna spend that much. I know its a different animal than the RE-20, but if the latter could be of good use to me, I'd be able to save quite a bit of monies...:s
I had an ehx echo#1 which was honestly fine for short delays with any number of repeats, but it was a bit sterile and hard to dial in a good sound because the knobs were so sensitive. I was considering a DL4, Head Rush or the Ibanez one with the slider knobs but, when I tried out an RE20, it hit a sweet spot of simplicity, versatility and sounding good. That said, I am very friggin intrigued by Timebenders now, and would love to try an Echorec (original or catalinbread).

The other thing with the RE20 is, sometimes I have to run it with the input at full whack to get any overload, other times it does it happily at lower settings. Is that weird?

The FRV1 is great because, as far as I'm aware, it's the only affordable non-spring reverb with a good drip, but with certain setups it does sound a tad digital. I'd love to see how it compares to a Topanga.
I dont really much for spring reverb, nor super authentic tape emulation for that matter. But I'm in the market for an affordable swiss army knife type of delay/reverb that doesnt require a science degree to operate it...

The ibanez one you're refering to is the es-2, right? Thats my main delay these days. My only one actually, but I'm looking to change that. Anyway, for the money its hard to beat those specs. The build quality seems so-so though, and the tap tempo is far from accurate. I'm not crazy about the modulation on it either, but I have yet to try a delay with onboard modulation that doesnt sound cheesy or over the top to me :idk:

I used to have a timebender too btw. Fell victim to the ilf TB hype, and really wanted to love mine. I know this is like blasphemy around here, but imo unless you want a nice pitch shifter with basic looping capibilities...My advice would be to avoid it like the fucking plague. The repeats are so quiet its ridiculous, the tone knob is useless cause it kills the audibility of the repeats even more. A bit of dirt in front of the TB finishes the job and makes the repeats dissapear almost intirely. The tape/analog/whatever settings sound extremely similar, though that may be due to the quiet repeats :idk:
Its a shame cause the features:price ratio makes it seem like the be-all-end-all miracle delay :idk:

Lots of folks round here strongly disagree though, so it may be just me or the particular unit I briefly owned :idk:

I didn't really dig the one I had either, I noticed the repeats were super quiet and didn't really do well in a mix of anything. The pitch and sequencing stuff is pretty cool though.

I don't like that we have a hive mind around here when it comes to stuff like this. We seem to not want to post a negative review of stuff here (for the most part that is). But there's nothing that EVERYBODY likes. Negative reviews of stuff are just as important as good reviews. Fuck your gods. Nothing's perfect, give me negative reviews of shit that everybody likes.

There are other reverbs?

I don't want or expect my RE20/FRV (or any digital copy pedal) to sound like a real tape echo, but to capture a 'vibe', for lack of a better word.

lol. i don't feel a hivemind going, although there are people here that will LIKE everything and others who will DISLIKE everything, so you gotta take that in mind when someone says something.

for example. jwar and uncle granny getting a pedal doesn't mean it's awesome, it just means it exists.

jwar then flipping it doesn't mean it sucks, it just mean a new pedal has come into existence.
Jwars flips are so powerful they materialize new pedals. Truly a dangerous power. :zen:

If Jwar flips a pedal in a forest, does a new one materialize?

If Jwar flips a pedal inside a box, is the pedal broken or working? And can we prove either?

If Jwar makes a list of all lists of pedals he's owned, but doesn't include that list in his list of lists, then is it truly a list of all pedals?

If Jwar sells half his pedals, then half of those remaining, then keeps doing that...will he ever sell all his pedals?

If Jwar rehouses a CT5, goes back in time, gives it to Scott, and then travels forward in time to buy the pedal from Scott...who invented the pedal?

So much this.

Semantic riddle or zen koan?

Jwar's flipping habits are like cycles of dharma. The pedals are in, they are out. Worlds are made they are unmade, only the permanence of jwar's flipping remains.
