The body is three peice ash with a thick, and I mean thick, maple cap...and it is bloody heavy! The neck is three peice maple with an ebony board and pearl dot inlays...the bridge has a brass block...and the whole thing is put together with such great percision and craftsmenship! Did I say its heavy?? fuckin heavy. The tone, well, when I played it at the guys house it was really really bright. He had a set on 9's on it and tuned to E, and playing it through is Jet City with treble and presence all the way off and bass & mids all the way up it was still really bright - not ear piercing, but a nice bright.
I got it home, put a set of 13-59 strings on it, tuned it to B...no need to change the set up, its perfect...just had to cut the nut a little for the low string...and with my strings and tuning, it sounded amazing. The brightness was still there in the clarity and ring of the notes, but still had a lot of low end with out mudd...for the first time, I dont feel like i need to change anything!
Awesome! Jet City's are pretty bright, so I'm glad that didn't put you off and it sounds good tuned low

Yeah the jet city was horrible with this guitar, but I could hear it's good qualities, and it felt so nice.
As for CAPS...ALL GOOD!!
Kaos...those other finishes are more rare than my natural one...apparently my one is the standard one and theres more of the available.

I've seen them live and I know he uses the Ampeg bass stacks but there's got to be some sort of subharmonic synth...I didn't see one and I didn't even see a POG or any other octave pedal which still probably wouldn't give you that sort of extreme depth.
Resincum posted some pictures of dude's board last time they rolled through texas:

So, I picked up a mid 70's Ampeg SVT yesterday in exchange for my Univox head and a 215 cab. Needs a little work in the preamp, but I'm pretty happy about it. Also, just found out that it's running KT88s instead of 6550s.

I recorded some guitar tracks with Mr. Grumpy and the new Atlas 6x12 this weekend. Just a rough jam out of a song idea, no second guitar or bass or anything like that yet. Just two mics on the cab and panned. I was really digging the Dunwich Volt Thrower for dirt and has a little reverb running from the 1776 based Dirge pedal that skully made me.
