My favorite part about conspiracy theories is when those who believe them REALLY show their crazy. My buddies wife started writing the word Vaccine as "Va((ine" in her posts because she thought they were monitoring her and this way they wouldn't know she was talking about it thanks to her handy se(ret (ode
at this point it has become abundantly clear that it's time to sit on the sidelines as best as possible and watch the horror unfold until it gets horrible enough that we put a universal strategy in place. I've never been more thankful to be a new yorker w cuomo calling the shots. My wife and I think that it's possible w cuomo at the helm that NY will be able to avoid becoming the epicenter of the world's virus again. I'm very sad that many friends and loved ones feel differently and I hope that there behavior doesn't ruin it for everyone, but my wife has finally started making decisions by data again instead of what everyone else around us is doing. I do love that video of the florida mayor all up in arms from May 20th saying that Florida will not be the next new york and will not be the epicenter. It was good for my wife to see that and see that it was just over 1 month after that rant that they are in fact now the epicenter.

This thing has been on the planet for 6, maybe 8-10 months...people who got it in march still have symptoms, no one can tell you that if you had COVID that the flu won't kill you next time you get it. Why are people so stupid and why haven't we found a vaccine for stupid yet?
I know it's dumb to speculate but I think about the lasting effects of polio, too. People dying of post-polio syndrome so many years later. With the weird toe stuff covid seems to do, it seems like it's more systemic than just the lungs and I wonder what kind of long-term effects we'll see.
Brazil's president Jair Bolsonaro tests positive for coronavirus.
Get well soon ... all you decent Brazilian people who are infected due to their president's inactiveness with this "little cold", which is just a "media trick".
COVID in the US is Aliens, but all you have to do to block the face huggers is wear a cloth over your mouth, but half the crew refuses to do it and the other half get fucking murdered by the monsters bursting from their chests.

This asshole that I work with was driving the work truck that 4 of us piled into (I love my job), and before we got in he asked if we all had our masks. He took his off as soon as we started driving.
As we're driving, he talks about how bad the pandemic has gotten and about differences between masks and how some are more effective than others.
Where's yours, dickhead?
And my boss has talked to us about wearing masks and gives us updates regarding pandemic policies... But he also never wears a mask and likes to get right up in your face when he talks to you.
Everyone at work hangs out in groups, all huddled up, no masks of course. Even the office workers don't wear any, and they deal with the public. It's all so mind-blowingly stupid. Nobody gives a fuck, even though they acknowledge the situation and talk about it every day. I feel like I'm just waiting to get sick.

Why don't you say something? I think a big part of the problem is people just are quiet because they don't want to be confrontational. I don't think you need to be confrontational to say something, you just say...if I can't be 6 feet from you, I need you to have a mask on or I can't be here. Period. From a work perspective, it's a lawsuit if they don't give you that much respect. Especially in these times where you can sue someone over anything and win.
Yeah, I guess I just have to be more direct. It's difficult to be confrontational while stuck with 3 other people for the day when it's inevitably gonna be the subject of gossip and cliquey dumb stuff among the rest of my coworkers for all time. It feels like I'm working with a group of middle schoolers sometimes.
But that's not a good enough reason to just let it go.

Got my test results today and I'm negative. That means that if I ever had the virus - which I'm quite sure I had because all the taste/smell loss that I experienced for 4 weeks straight during march, and because my parents resulted positive too - now it's gone and the antibodies are gone with it, which means I can be infected again like anybody else. Yay!
Third, possibly the antibody test isn't accurate enough to detect extremely low levels so you did have it and perhaps even have some hidden immunity. Not comforting or certain but a possibility I've seen floated as a potential explanation for low levels of population antibodies... probably just wishful thinking though, I read that a few months ago and the consensus might have changed by now.
yes, apparently it's a sneaky virus. Anyway no doubt i'm sticking to all the mask+sanitizing procedures like anyone else, even more now that people seems to slowly forget what was happening here less than 2 months ago and behaving like everything never happened. Sometimes i wonder if they are being neuralyzed with that Man in Black thing, there can be no other reason for their memory to be so short.
