BC Rich is cool...but the cheap ones that i've tried all felt like ass...except the NJ series which are decent.

Schecters are cool too...but heavy as fuck

Ibanez are the best made of the bunch...but dont usually have active pups.

But I dare you...actually...double dare you to get a Squier Hello Kitty guitar. They are hardtail, made pretty well and cheap...you can put a active pup in the bridge...and it would be the best death metal guitar EVER!!!

Ha...sorry, too late, I already bought an Ibanez. I will probably swap out the bridge pickup when I get it. Don't give a crap about neck pickups for metal, so I'll leave that one or just leave the empty hole. I might throw an EMG in there, only because I wouldn't have to solder anything. I'm not a huge fan of active pickups in general for guitar though. I'd rather put a really high output alnico pickup in there.

Active pup's are getting better though...EMG has put out some alnico sounding pickups that are pretty close. Also...I hate the 81, but the 85 in the bridge is actually quite nice, with loads more bottom end and less output, it takes the edge off. Blackouts are shit...they are really muddy.

I'm half considering putting a bridge 85 or one of their vintage sounding ones in my Alu neck Jazzmaster.

It shipped fully insured with EMS via Japan Post. It wasn't anything remotely what I might call a bulletproof packing job (just some bubble wrap and loosely wadded newspaper, no case of any kind included), but it arrived unscathed and quickly.

Really want one of those bound Schecter stargazers, except in a reverse body.
They are rad.

They said schecters were good...they said heavy guitars were good...so i bought one...i played in a metal band for years touring the country, slinging that heavy guitar every night for hours...we were one of the best metal bands around...but strictly underground...we didnt want to sell out. But after years of playing a heavy guitar on stage and headbanging till my neck was sore, it started to take its toll. I turned to painkillers...first it was just regular over the counter...then the doctor prescribed codeine. I use to take 2 before each gig just to get me through.

Things got worse when Shecter made me my signature model, I was so intent on heavy guitars that i had them build me a double thick flying V...the thing weighed 15kg...but those tones!

My back meanwhile got worse and worse, and my addiction to codeine and other painkillers got worse. I hot rock bottom one night when we were playing Ozzfest (i was in so much pain and so limp from all the pills) and it came to my spot before my solo when I usually swung the guitar around my body, but this time when i did it...the guitar felt so heavy and i couldnt control it...the weight and momentum of the guitar was so great that it lifted me off the floor and I crashed back first into the amp stack (a matamp GT120, vintage Orange OR120 and 2 6x12 Atlas cabs).

They rushed me to hospital, but before I left i told the crowd i would be back to finish the gig...but then Gary Holt jumped in and replaced me...and I never made it back to the stage.

So after my hospital treatment, i was checked into a rehab centre to get over my addiction. Thats best thing that happened in my life, not only did I kick the addiction, but I also found God in Jesus Christ our saviour, and Jane, the love of my life.

Years later...now I play a Steinberger through a Fender Blues Jnr, and a simple pedalboard with some boutique pedals I picked up from TGP. I still play a mean solo in a PnW band at our local church for God with my wife who sings back up vocals...and I dont care about heavy guitars anymore or big amps or thick tones...I've realised that tone is in the fingers, and when you fingers belong to God and you play for him, he makes sure your tone is great...just like Jesus.

Lots of shred going on these last few pages, might as well show off my wankcaster. This one once belonged to Ben Weinman, fucker was beat, got her humming along though. Don't play it much anymore and have never seen another m-302. According to ESP they were samples that were only shown off at namm in 2001. Can vouch for korean ltd's, great guitars.

so i'm fishing for ideas on OD pedals.

I'm buying a Wampler EGO soon...which has top mounted jacks...but unfortunately with that addition, the Black Forrest cant stay on the board. So, i'm looking for a smaller size OD pedal with top mounted jacks to either use as low gain (with hints of fuzz to it) or boost the QM.

the ones i've narrowed it down to are:
- Cusack Screamer or Bass Screamer
- Greenhouse Effects Roadkill
- SS/BS Mini
- EQD Talons

these are all priced at about $200AUD...

what do you guys think??

In addition to your last post, I'm obliged to tell you that dropping the Black Forest is finding you in a delicate position with The Old Ones.
Just a warning.

I've been curious about the Talons. I have a Rat Tail incoming for grindy gravelly drive and if it doesn't do if for me, I'm gonna try the Talons.

I highly recommend the Mini though. It's extremely versatile and great for low gain stuff
