It's a BEAST.
Nice! I tried out the Fender version of that and even though it wasn't for me, I loved that it had 2 channels. I dialed in a nice grindy rhythm channel and a cleaner channel that I used for spacey psychedelic stuff.
I wish more bass amps had 2 channels. And I look forward to hearing this Sunn beast live

Good luck keeping it running!
And that's not snide, that's genuine. Many Knob SVTs sound great when they work.
I feel like this is a thing perpetuated by the Internet. It has new output tubes, and we're getting a cap job before we leave for tour.

Obviously, because you wouldn't have bought one if you thought it was a real thing. I have never seen one in person or 'online' (here and other places) that didn't need some recurrent TLC. The most common thing, IIRC, was that one of the 6550's would short out and keep blowing the fuses. Feel free to keep thinking it's just the internet, though, and I hope it works well for you.

Again, not snide -- they sound fucking rad when they're working, but they rebadged them from Sunn to Fender A) because they were phasing out the Sunn name and B) because the 300T was getting a reputation for being wonky.

I try not to make assumptions either way. No need to go full SLK because I'm reiterating stuff you've already accounted for. My b.

A little outside the normal gear discussion, but can anyone recommend a good cheap hardtail guitar that would be suitable for playing death metal? I've been jamming on some Obituary style old school death metal lately, all my current guitars are more vintage voiced and I don't want to mod them. So I was thinking about picking up something cheap with dual humbuckers and putting some high output pickups in it. I hate tremolo bridges though. Better to just get something with a cheaper Fender style tremolo on it and just screw the bridge down? I don't want anything to do with Floyd Rose style bridges.

Just sayin' -- it's hard to talk about this shit without coming across as a shithead knowitall, typically not my intention.

No offense taken. I honestly think it's how other people seem to take it more than anything else.
Yes that is directed.
No I don't care.
hell I think if I change my picture to me smiling I would have less 'outrage' at everything I post.
