You guys... The reason my cab has been sounding so quiet lately is because some of the wires disconnected from the speakers. I have been only running one 32 ohm speaker... Which is a really shitty thing when you've set your amp for 4 ohms. Also shitty when you run 300 watts into one 150 watt speaker. Thankfully nothing was damaged. Spent about 30 minutes tightening up every connection in that cab.

Also maybe glue and screw some 1" X 1" cleats into the corners as well if it doesn't already have them. A small dab of solder on the speaker connectors is a good idea. Stops them vibrating loose but can still be desoldered if you need to change the speakers. A small dab of hot glue would work also.AxAxSxS wrote:This is why I take shit apart and rebuild it. Waiting to buy a real copy before I listen to it. The few tracks they played off it back in January sure sounded great, though.LOCOPELAND wrote:No love for the new HoF album? Wtf doom room?
Just got my preorder of the Acid King record in the mail... six weeks after the album was released normally.

Just a heads up on the warpigs and batwing pickguards, most of the bareknuckle pickups ship to retailers with short legs. They work fine for the neck pickup, but the bridge needs the long legs. The short legs can work in the bridge but you'll have to cut the springs.Ancient Astronaught wrote:That's what I'm thinkin, especially once I put the warpig in the bridge and eventually order a pig90 for the neck.
Ended up not liking the fit, sold the warpigs, and ordered pig 90's with long legs from BK. Like both pickups alot.

I believe this one is a long leg version, see here:braaandooon wrote:Just a heads up on the warpigs and batwing pickguards, most of the bareknuckle pickups ship to retailers with short legs. Wouldn't have to mod the guard or anything. The main issue was getting the pickup to proper height, after cutting a third of the spring I was able to get it up there but it seemed wobbly. Maybe some tape might help if you run into the same issue.

Ahhhhh I gotcha, I think I have some short tapered springs that help with wobbly pickups. If need be I'll throw those in there. Thanks man!braaandooon wrote:Wouldn't have to mod the guard or anything. Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
The thing is that the actual speaker connector tabs were so loose that they were slipping on and off. The guy I bought it from said that he went through and rewired it when he put the new speakers in, I should have gone through it to be sure though.KaosCill8r wrote:Also maybe glue and screw some 1" X 1" cleats into the corners as well if it doesn't already have them. Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Bought myself some GFS Mean 90's.
I know Skip has used them to pretty decent success. Not sure if I'll really jive with them or not but $35 a pop is pretty decent so I'm pretty pumped to have my Toronado equipped with some P90's instead of the stock Fender Atomic humbuckers.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
They get mixed reviews but I really liked mine in my old V guitar. They sounded great under alot of gain, lots of clarity and low end which isn't common. They are not overly hot though so if your used to really high output humbuckers there won't be as much crunch.odontophobia wrote:Bought myself some GFS Mean 90's.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I've got the RW/RP neck Mean 90 in the middle of my barncaster. Humbucking with the tele bridge is so thick and clear, and with the neck is bright and clear. All three positions growl. Great pickup, esp for the $. Here's a pic too...
Also, Fender humbuckers kinda suck. Have to replace the Enforcers in my 1951's, can't get any low end out of them, even rewired w/ a tone control pot and a .047 tone cap. Sold the old Toranado for the flatness/ dullness with the Atomics, or maybe Black Canyons?
