Deathmonkey...that RD has almost made up my mind about my build.

Im gonna email a couple builders...found a guy down here who does bodies pretty cheap. I have to see if he would do the RD with the specs i want. Thinking of a mid dark natural finish with cream pickups and chrome hardware. Ill probably pull all the pots and pickups out of the iceman and sell it with its stock stuff back in.

Similar to the RD firebird suggestions, I love a flipped Jaguar/Supersonic type shape. They'll all neck dive of course.

I second the mosrite/hi flyer vote from Pope:

Probably one of my favourite EGCs ever.

yeah the mosrite shape is pretty cool...i was looking at that too.

i did some drawings of various body shapes and the neck...basically, it only looks good with a slanted body shape as the top of the headstock is slanted. the direction of the slant has to be "left side up, right side down"...like a fender Jag.

i'm thinking of doing a custom shape of some sort...

Find a job you will like better. You spend about a third of your adult life working. Why spend that time doing something you don't like? :idk:

Easier said than done, and you have to survive the starving artist period if you really want to do music. I'd drop school in a second if Flux could become profitable.

I think a better approach is to find a job you don't completely hate, that allows you to have time to spend on the things you really want to do. I'm jealous of the craftspeople of the world who truly have passion for their work. Research scientists, master chef's, architects etc. Kind of a bummer when you realize all of your passions are money pits

I think this is some sound advice. Just find something that won't make you miserable. Find something that puts you in the company of great people. I know that when I started my job nearly 8 years ago I certainly didn't expect to do any of the things that I ended up doing there. Now that I'm doing it and have committed more to it I feel great about everything I'm doing there and my progress. It's certainly had its moments where I was so frustrated that I wanted to leave but that a lot has changed after a few regime changes.

absolutely. I knew a long time ago that I wasn't willing to starve, and I didn't want to teach music or play music I wasn't into. so I made the decision to go corporate, where I would have a secure job/healthcare. That has generally given me the freedom to get gear and play short tours - I basically view it as supporting my music habit and keeping me financially secure.
I was totally happy with it until a few years ago - the company I work for was bought out by a huge investment group. There have been some pretty awful changes and a lot of the best people have left. it's hard to keep fighting the tide when the # of good people keeps dwindling.
/end whining

/back to adjusting the intonation on my jazz bass...those things were not meant for drop C

Other than that. Is Whores coming out to Ca on the fall tour?

We haven't confirmed the tour yet. It's just in the planning stages and we were asked to support. The only CA date on the routing right now is San Diego.

Which is a bummer. We'd love to do LA and SF/Oakland again as soon as possible.

If we end up doing that tour, we may add some CA and PNW dates on the end.

I finally got around to ordering a face plate and logo plate for my 2203 build.

Dragged it into the live room to play with it a bit and it sounds killer. Now I need to get it to the band practice space to try it with the band.
