I started a few hours ago...
Thinking about swapping the hum buckers on my Toronado for some bucker sized p90s. Not sure what I want to look at. To be honest I'm just so enamored with the single coils in my tele (whattup Christian?) that I'm considering the switch to something a little different. Sheeeeeesh.

I have a sweet humbucker size p90 that I don't use since I don't have a humbucker guitar anymore. I'm looking up pickups to swap out in my Jazzy but not sure what to get. This reply really doesn't contribute to your post, but.... beer.

Humbucker P90's are go. GFS Mean 90's are sweet and cheap, have the neck RW/RP version in the middle of my barncaster. Maybe with a SD Phat Cat bridge... Tons of others to choose from. From Iron Gear and GFS inexpensive to Bare Knuckles, and beyond I'm sure. So many I'd like to buy and try out!

That'd make a great band name.

For a Grindlink cover band!

I don't even know anymore. Somewhere along the way I think we just lost perspective. What are we to the deafening roar of the macro-cosmos?

I just got a mean 90 for the neck of my sg. Looking forward to trying this thing. My experience with guitarfetish shipping and pricing was great.

SLK and Dunwich Nick are not beer fans but we love them anyway because this is the doom room. Our love for one another rivals our general disdain for the non-amp worshiping types.

SLK - I was doing some youtubing last night in a allergy / cold medicine induced haze at about 2am and came across your demo video of the Marshall Lead 100 mosfet. Just wanted to get your opinions on how that amp is for say crust / power violence (by your demo it sounds pretty spot on for that) and also how well it takes having pedals (mainly a booster or overdrive) out in front of it. I'm thinking after the wedding when I get my deposit back from the venue I might go out and buy a stereo pair of them to run into my emperors since they are so cheap and I want some kind of crazy weird stereo rig. These things have the gain and built in reverb while being light and reliable so it peaked my interest.
It's looking like either a pair of these or a pair of Orange CR120's (which is the slightly more expensive option).

I don't beer either, but that just means more for you guys and if that makes you happy then I'm happy.
Skip, I played on one in a pawn shop and it wasn't loud at all. I remember thinking that it wouldn't keep up in a full band context. Two might, I dunno. I'd rather go the Orange CR12o route. Those things are nice as fuck.

Can someone explain to me why you'd pay $500 for a solid state head instead of a really nice preamp?

I'm no beer as well, on the rare occasions I do drink its cider or nice scotch / whiskey.
Awesome that is the kinda info I'm looking for!!! Thanks.

Rackmount jams are horrid for gigging, and the power amp to mate with it is an extra expense. Also a "really nice" preamp is gonna cost you much more than $500 unless you go with a pedal version, which just doesnt resonate with me. I want something plug n play with everything contained in one transportable unit.
