Page of Pepe?
Cheers, UG. I think you got something special. Good thing I started poking around (or maybe not haha).
From what I can tell, it should be a bit different than you other two (that are silicon...this one is Ge)...
I know way too much about them now

So awesome that you got one!

Yeah, I'm sure that the VB-2 only needs a bit cleaning and resoldering to work 100% reliably again. Can't wait for it to arrive!

It'll be awesome...even if you have to steal a switch from a ds-1 or something. Heck, even if you have to put it a looper. haha.

And I'm sure I'll be able to produce a much much much better demo video than Gearmanndude who seemed like he didn't know at all what the heck he should do with the VB-2.

Fixed. Fill in the blank with any pedal. Oh wait, he does know that one overdrive that I have heard mentioned like 10000 times and I've watched 3 of his videos (I got the point after one, but I thought I might get a laugh but it never happened).
The latching/unlatching thing was probably pretty neat for the time and it is still something you don't see a lot of in vibrato...

Yeah was mostly interested because this is build like the original pepbox before WEM took over production and changed the circuit to silicon.

OMG ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT JACK BLA... nevermind.
Watched his demo on the MF-102 yesterday, to get different takes on it. It was awful, and the comments were full of people calling the pedal useless. That
did make my gas stronger... To be fair, he did say he didn't know how to use ring mods.

Do you know anything about that British Pedal Company? They claim to have an official reissue too (I know it isn't) and also claim it has the right transistors/schematic but it sounds nothing like the Jerms or original demos I have heard. It just sounds weak. The ghost, JMI, Jerms, and original all sound like they are from the same family despite all being different (i know you can't get the full effect/sound via youtube) but that BPC one sounds like something way different. Are they just a cloner just making stuff that looks cool and forgetting about the sound? Seems weird.
Still interested in the Ghost though...Silicon and Ge can coexist if fuzz world! I think it will be a blast, man. Cheers on having a pedal hand made by a guy that used to hand make them for the beatles. Kinda crazy.

I swear he said that in all three videos I watched too. I think thinking you need to know how to use ring mods makes you unable to ever know how to use ring mods.
Ring MOD! Do it! haha, don't listen to me. I got obsessed with them because of a description I read in a book back when real player was just getting its start haha. Couldn't play guitar, so I played ring mod. I really do love it though.

Haha. I am tempted. Missed out on the Tracer City, so I feel like the world owes me a big box of crazy. It's new from this Norwegian store I sometimes use, sent them a mail and they said they'd give it to me for almost $100 less than the normal price. Still expensive, but tempting, and I could always flip it with minimal loss...
It's either this, an old WEM Copicat, or being economical and saving my money. And the copicat, however cool, feels more like an expensive gadget that doesn't really do anything I can't already sort of do, except looking awesome while doing it.

Never bought anything from them. I've read some mean remarks bout them, but I don't have any firthand experience and people talkin trash isn't new. As far as I understand the JMI is based on the WEM version of the Rush Pepbox, with silicon. The sharptone is official WEM reissue although its based on a prototype circuit and uses si. I was intrigued by the BPC because it uses germs like the original but never made a move. Now I've got an original circuit germ version built by Pepe himself

It's the quality of sound that is so awesome about tape delay, plus the multihead combos of the copicat and the preamp sound.
That sucks you missed out on the Tracercity, hopefully he starts building them again.

I say get an Echo Degrader and keep the change for whenever a Tracer City pops up used.

I actually tried on the tracer city to get it around ILF, but it went way out of my range. Sorry Eivind. I tried...(got out bid early haha...you gotta keep that stuff secret)
The copicat has been one of my dream machines for years. Played through one years ago and loved it. The preamps on alot of these standalone boxes are usually pretty good but a few are up there and beyond (echoplex and the copicat). If it were me, the moog ring mod will always be there and you can get other ones cheaper (or a used one via trade or something). A copicat in good condition? It wont be your last chance but if it is around the same price as a moog ring mod...that is a hell of a deal.
But saving is always good. You can coax some ring mod tones out of your raptio...just run it first and let the raptio run with a note and then play like something totally different two octaves up into a good fuzz that compresses (46 worked well for this) and that is pretty much ring mod, though dirty. Not as versitile or anything, but it is two signals getting made into two new ones. You could build a passive one and use any other oscillator around to get some ring mod (or somekind of AM) going too for pretty cheap. The moog just has more options and great sound is all. Saving for a tracer city might be the best option really if that's what you want.
UG, interesting that the Sharptone is based off a prototype. Kinda neat. Dang it. I gotta get my mind off the dang pepbox variations. haha. About the mean comments...I hadn't read anything about them yet, just was curious, but it gets hard to weed through the bullshit on the internet sometimes
