Looks like I could use the Tascam 644 or 688 units as they have midi capability, but their hard to find and a lil bit pricey...... hmmmm gotta think about my plan and how I wanna do this...

That's too much work and I need all 4 drum tracks on the tape recorder. If I only use it for drum tracks there will be no issues really I'll just have to bounce them all to digital before we can track anything else. I'll put the sends into the interface and then kinda mix the headphone signal in the box, it would be a pain to line up the scratch guitar track though after bouncing the tape but its not impossible.
Record a stereo mix of the drums in your DAW and use that to line up the "tape drums" when you bring them in...

I assume you would want to have a mix of the effected and normal drums anyway, so...

The hopeful plan is to use the 4 1/4 outs I have on my interface to send 4 drum tracks (in a glynn john's / recorderman style setup) out to the tape to record simultaneously, then using the individual tape head outs of the cassette recorder to bounce them back into the interface via 4 extra 1/4 in's (tracks 11-14) on my interface. It would just be nice to have the DAW controlling the cassette recorder so that when i go back to zero and hit play / record to bounce em back there would be no need to realign them. But I'll just have to hit play on both simultaneously and then once I bounce them back go in and manually line them up. It's a total pain in the ass but its totally worth it. That way I'll have the over heads, kick and snare double tracked digitally and on tape, with the sub kick just digital (its a supplement mic that works better in digital where theres no frequency loss in the low registers) it would leave alot of great mixing possibilities. My first method would be to use the tape tracks as my clean chain for the drums (usual eq, comp, buss comp and reverb), then use the digital tracks for my "flavor" buses (usually one setup for NY comp [for punch and cut], and a second buss that's distorted to hell and back that i mix in real quiet under the normal mix) that I'll add in as necessary. But I could also do the opposite and use the digital tracks for the clean main sound and then literally overload the tracks on the tape deck for tape distortion / saturation that can result in some sick tones. I dunno theres alot I could do, it wouldn't be that hard to do without midi sync but it would still make my life a shit ton easier.

No it was the van carrying Wormreich and Khaotika that crashed, KoA were the ones to break the news on FB. I believe its two members of Wormreich have passed and one from KHaotika.

Ah, ok. It seems I read a skewed report that someone sent me earlier this morning.
Either that or I wasn't paying attention.

Yeah that really sucks. I don't know any of them personally but I feel like a part of the brotherhood is gone. We were supposed to play Chattanooga with Wormreich in June. That could have just as easily been us while we were out these last 4 days. I know I've been sleepy and kept on driving. It is a real eye opener for sure. Y'all be safe out there.
