What device is producing the cf and which device is being affected by the cv?
They've all go cv outs and ins on the back on the moogerfoogers. I don't really know what's going on other than I bought a few patch cables and just started randomly connecting ins and outs and twisting knobs. Many didn't seem to do much but a few really seemed to change everything. Right now I have a mix of the FreqBox going to the Ring Mod and the Ring Mod going to the FreqBox. It seems like the more cables I added, the more interesting it got. I saw one video where the guy described it like a modular synth which I don't really understand the flow of those things either. Apparently though I could also hook them up with a TRS cable to the expression jack of other pedals like the CT5 but I haven't tried that because all of my patch cables are mono. The other weird thing is that some of these patches will effect the pedal even if one of them is off while others only seem to do their thing when they're both on. I've only put a few hours into experimenting but it totally changed my impression of the FreqBox from "what the fuck is this supposed to do because I only get awful sounds out of it" to "if I ever figure out what's going on here, this could be one of the most important and inspirational pedals I own". The sync button is now awesome. I can make a drone with it off or I can have it follow my guitar in a way that really sounds cool. I feel like I have to start writing down these patches and setting though and that's not usually my effect style.

Exp and CV aren't the same! Control Voltage (CV) sends a low voltage through the cable, usually the range is 0-10V or 0-5V. This is the format that most synths use, because it is much better to manipulate than EXP. You can make steps and arpeggios and bend the curve of an LFO much better if you are using voltage. Basically any effect that can be used to tweak an audio signal can also tweak CV. That is the magic of modular synthesis.
Exp is simply varying resistance. An expression pedal is just a pot in a Wah shell that you turn by treadling the treadle. And a pot is simply a varying resistance between two of the lugs.
It is (I think) much easier for builders to incorporate Expression jacks than CV, so those are more common, especially among boutique builders. Some stuff takes either, f.ex. the Strymons do, I think the Moogs do too and some other, mostly digital effects, so that makes it even more confusing. And on top of that some people mislabel Exp Inputs with CV.
I am pretty sure the GB24 only takes EXP, so I guess the Ct5 might be the same.

You should really consider getting a Moog cp-251 to open a whole nother level of awesome with your cv gear in particular your moogerfoogers.

It's good. I'm not sure if the Modulate is better but I use the Shimmer with the tone rolled back and it makes a good modulated/haunty reverb. It's probably my favorite aspect of it. If it didn't have that, I'm not sure if I'd keep it. I have another reverb on my board that I built which does the more straight up reverb stuff.

that's an RV-3 that some dude painted sparkly purple.
I just got my first electric rig in years so there is more to come.......
A couple of pedals are on their way.

Actually I sold the mooer today and have a Mr Black Dark Echo on the way, plus a Trem from Noise Kick and a fuzz from Noise Maker Effects.
