Incoming!:

He said the input is messed up so I'm going to take a look at that/get in contact with people that might know what they're talking about. But holy shit I bought this same price as backwardsvoyager did.

hopefully yours is also up and running with minimal effort
as soon as i fixed mine up i spent like an hour troubleshooting it because it was breaking up and going all warbly.. but then i realised i'd had the distortion and vibrato turned on on my JC120 the whole time

What an awesome deal for the both of you.

I picked up a Multivox MX-312 (which is the spiritual sibling to the RE-201) a while ago for under $100 but I am still working on it. Tape delays are awesome!

He said he didn't try the two mic inputs, or even the toggle switch on it (which is apparently broken and probably easy to fix) :picard: . He told me all the tape stuff works really well though, so theres a possibility this thing might actually just work fine and require minimal effort in clean up, which would blow my mind.

goddamn what a score, those look really neat, slightly more bells and whistles than the 201 too

you can still use the mic inputs with instruments you just have to back off the gain more, so you might still be able to use it fine.
if it's electronic problems with the inputs you're probably gonna be set back a lot less money and effort than if you had to rebuild the motor or something. might even just be a loose solder joint.

Alright cool, I'll probably just set the Mic Volume low, because I like having a steady volume level across all my pedals anyway. If I remember correctly, mic lines are usually +15/20dB right?

My guess honestly was a loose or corroded solder point, or the toggle switch being broken might be the issue. Either way I'll be figuring out soon enough.

The mic input on my evans/maxon tape delay works just fine for guitar. Same with the multivox. Try it in the effects loop on your amp too though (if it has one). The maxon came with a shunt for the vocal input that boosts volume and also makes it all wet signal. I don't know if the RE-201 is the same or not. I gotta demo the Maxon soon.

I don't know the specific gain/impedance but you're supposed to set the input gain on any channel so that the VU meter deflects between -3 and 0 dB to get the most effective echo signal. If i plug my bass VI straight into it i find i need to use the mic input anyway because it doesn't have much output. Even if the instrument input is buggered if it arrives and the mic inputs work you got a hell of a deal, if not then still a pretty awesome deal

Wheehee!

I just took it for a spin and I'm impressed even though it's not actually what I wanted. Le glitch quest isn't over, but this one is a keeper! It reminds me a lot of my DD-6 in the supershort delay settings or the hold mode depending on which mode on the Judder you use. You can definitely get the strange resonances of too short delay times, and the staccato stutter, as well as an even more stutter-ey mode. Where this thing excels at is modulating these modes. You can use an LFO or envelope and inverse envelope. I especially loved the envelope settings with the resonances. The harder I play, the more the resonance screeches? YES, PLEASE! Or: I play and while my note decays the resonance starts to be blended in only to falter into the noisy clicking of a delay chip pushed too far. I have a huge boner for this thing now! And I want a possessed to go along with it.

Ugh stop it. With me buying the RE-201 I won't have the money for this until next month.
