I always said that until I bought my LP Standard. It was 1900 but totally worth it. I'd have never gotten it if it hadn't been for getting the MF credit card that let you pay it off with no interest if you did it in a year. Don't regret that one at all but the only thing I'll spend money on like that again are amps. Well, I take that back. I should say have spent instead of will spend. I'm pretty set with them until I figure exactly what I want Nick to do with his custom wizardry. But yeah, there are tons of cheap guitars that play and sound just as good if not better than expensive guitars.

PRS are fuckin great...i tried a few SE's and they played better than most things i've bought. I still dont know why i dont own the Bernie Marsden sig SE...that thing was lovely to play and sounded pretty damn good too.

I'm thinking of getting a USA PRS Custom 24 for teaching. It's almost the perfect tool for that. I think I'd be better off with a Suhr or Tom Anderson, but PRS are more readily available.

Todd (our guitarist that I mentioned earlier) got his 2013 Custom 24 on clearance for like $1200 and I gotta say the neck is super comfortable, sustain is killer, and the stock pickups just plain rip. If your looking for a high quality guitar thats not horrendously expensive and perfect for a large variety of styles I would say these would make a great choice. And I personally really like the PRS body style with a carved top. It looks and feels right when sitting or standing, while most guitars usually only do good at one or the other.

Was it a core series Custom 24 with the proper German carve or was it the S2 Custom 24 with the bevelled top? I can't find an original Custom 24 for anything less than €2000 over here. The S2 line is looking pretty handy, though, as it's almost €1000 quid cheaper. I've heard mixed reports about it, though, so I'd definitely try it out before I buy. I'd prefer a Suhr or Tom Anderson, but they're harder to come by and they're often more expensive.

That is what this one is... the S2 Custom 24. The only reason I hopped on it was because of the price. Got it brand new for way less than what they are listed on MF for. I don't care for 24 fret guitars but I couldn't find a 22 fret model anywhere in the price range that I could afford. I'd love to have the carved top model because I love that about my Les Paul. It is just so comfortable. That being said though, my SG is (was) super comfortable too with the beveled edges and the S2 series are just like that so I imagine it'll be comfortable. The only bad thing I read that worried me was one guy who said his wouldn't stay in tune at all. Other than that it was all blues jamming bedroom turds complaining that PRS cut corners on it. I mean, why wouldn't they cut a corner here and there to make a guitar more affordable to people on a budget?

That tape delay setting is SO GOOD. Regardless of price. The fact that these are dirt cheap really pushes it over the top. The digital delay is very nice too. I've never even used the looper function!

I agree with this whole heartedly. Plus these delays keep clarity even under insane amounts for dirt, like the good boss delays do, but without the uber sterility usually associated with clear articulate delays.

Just got confirmation it's an S2 with the bevel. It might not have all the bells and whistles but its like the early 90's LP studios. Everything needed to get that badass tone without any of the fancy stuff thats pretty much purely cosmetic.

I've always loved the way paul reed smiths play. such a dream. i hate that they're usually ugly as fuck. i don't mind the body shape or the birds or whatever, but the crazy ass gaudy flamed tops are too much for me. particularly the blue or purple flamed tops. ugh. i'm not totally against a flame top, but it's rare that i see one i like. i played a paul reed smith in a guitar store once that had this really cool barely transparent almost flat black finish, sort of a semi gloss. it was really cool looking. it was also like $1500 or more, but i really liked it. i'm just the right combination of "not that good of a guitar player" and "broke all the time" to have no business buying one of those. but they're cool guitars. congrats.

For the distortion I am thinking of putting in trimmers for the distortion, bass, and treble on the pcb. Does this make sense for distortion? I think its fine to have no trimmers for fuzz but the distortion usually people like to shape this a bit more than fuzz

I feel the same. I don't even change out the pickups in my guitars. well unless the pickups are nonworking. and even then I haven't actually changed them out. They are just off to the side waiting.
