I could have done a lot worse. Just google it, but before you do grab a bottle of jack and a revolver and prepare yourself for the event horizon.

Re: Let's see your DRUMS!
This is (was?) a Pearl Vision Birch set. I pulled the wrap, cut four inches out of the middle of the kick (from 18x22 to 14x22), cut the floor tom in half and put latches on it and the bass so the set can nest, and re-wrapped the whole thing in vertical-grade formica. Ludwig did this for a bit in the 70s (?). They called it cortex or something, but it was used in their butcher-block finishes and a few others.
Shells are 14x22, 16x16, and 9x12.
I replaced the lugs and the bass hoops to Gretsch style and steel, respectively. The snare is an old Acrolite I got for a song and cleaned up. Less than a month after getting everything together I had to move into an apartment, go figure, but at least it looks classy. The cymbals in the shot are an 80s 20" deep ride and a pair of 14" 70s-ish new beats. My mom grew up in the same town as Zildjian's HQ, so it's a bit of a home-team thing.

Can you say more about the latching? Do you have a pic of them matryoshka'd up?Adamadamadam wrote:This is (was?) a Pearl Vision Birch set. Re: Let's see your DRUMS!
All these kits looks sweet. I don’t know shit about drums!
I had to switch to electronic due to noise constrainsts. Thus begins our story...
I disliked the look of the e kit from day one. Didn’t have the same mojo as my KVLT amps. Then i went on Pinterest. I saw a guy who cut a kick drum down and placed it in front of his kit.
An anonymous ILF’er needed some hardware so I bought a pile of drum junk for $30. I stripped the kick and cut it to about 6”. I had to paint the back of the head black so it isn’t transparent anymore. It’s actually the beater head as well, but I’d like to get one of those cool custome ones some day. Then i Re installed the hardware and here we are!

The festival is a keeper! Squeaky clean, literally no amp drive. Verb and trem are pretty cool add-ons.
