Ancient Astronaught wrote:samzadgan wrote:cheers Skip...im keeping the monochrome theme going...wife wants to decorate the house that way too...so all works out!
That's awesome!!! I have a thing for monochrome as well if you hadn't noticed hahahaha were you the one that picked up Pope's multiplex delay?
Yeah, monochrome is badass. I just bought that Silverback Ape Blaster in BST because monochrome.
Which means if you wanna grab my white one for cheap, head on over or PM me!!!

Looks like I'll have to go fuck myself.
Again.
When are you guys playing?
misterstomach wrote:I want a multiplex so bad, especially now that there's an add on kit for foot switchable modulation. Seems nearly perfect.
That one Sam is getting (which used to be Skip's) has the modulation on it and can be assigned to either of the tape heads. So many options. Also has what skully called a "kink" switch, which controls a photocoupler and bends the repeats, making it sound like the tape head is being pressed.
IT FUCKING RULES.
t-rey wrote:Fuck all the horrible and venomous things you guys have lurking all over the place down there.
Bogan spiders made me lol though.
Huntsmen and daddy long legs are mostly what roam my place, so no big deal. Do have to keep an eye out for red backs, though.

Oktava MK 219, 319
Electro-Voice RE-320 (costs a lot less than the RE-20 and actually does more)
Many old Electro-Voice dynamics (not worth "vintage" $$ but have classic sound and build)
Audio Technica ATM250DE (dual diaphragm, great on kick or vocals or anything you want doubly mic'ed and in-phase)
AKG c519 (clip-on mic for trumpets etc, but works like magic on the beater side of a kick drum)
Audix i5 for everything, fuck a SM57

thanks gents, if anyone has any others I'd love to hear it. Going to compile a list, do some research and start looking for em. Don't have any real fundage for it though, hence the budget mic quest.

You should really ask Steve Jones this question. Also Chris Jr if you know him. Those dudes are the masters.
*edit* And Tad too these days.

Behringer ECM 8000
http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ECM8000 Hold on, hear me out. It's an omni, which means it's unforgiving. With the right placement you get very realistic sounds and low proximity effect, which can actually be a good thing. Yeah it's no Earthworks M30, but you can score one for 20 bucks. Everything has its place in the creative man's mic locker.

My jealousy glands are engorged.
I've had a real hankering for one of those lately.
SCORE.

Yeah -- can't wait to get the opportunity to run the pedalboard through it with guitar and get weird on it.

The Poor Mans's Mic Locker:
2x CAD M179 Condensers
2x Shure SM57 or Audix i5 (I prefer the audix) Dynamics
1x Shure Beta52 or Audix D6 Kick / Bass mic
I can record an entire album with just those 5 mics and make it sound great. Drums, guitars, bass, vocals, woodwind, brass.... you name it and you can capture it well with those mics. Plus if you shop around or buy used you can get all 5 mics for under $500.
Not a sermon, just a thought.
