I love Boss.

I even like the MT-2. Fine, the highs are kinda insane, but that parametric EQ is so freaking powerful, and the clipping diodes are really easy to mess around with.

Huge fan of boss pedals, can't remember the last time I even had a board without at least one on it.
It kinda sucks that guitarists/musicians still get stuck in these weird ruts where
Klon sucks
or digitech sucks
or boss sucks

It all sucks, and it's all awesome.

Especially since most of the heroes we have broke pretty much every good tone rule that exists.

there's something so satisfying with boss enclosures. Like you know not only are they going to survive some dude pouring his beer all over them they're also going to survive the beating you give him with a couple of them in a sock.

I like the boss enclosures/switches a ton. I just don't like when they try to give them more modes and stuff by pressing it for 1 second or whatever to switch modes. Otherwise, I think they made a really nice enclosure that has served them well and worked well for a really long time. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

To each their own I guess. I've always likes the boss stuff too. They're not always the best. I mean, a boss pedal very seldom has THAT specific sound I'm looking for. But they're good "allround"/industry standard sounding and I have yet to have one break down on me (jinx!). The third pedal I ever got ( first was a TU-2, then a DD-6 which I eventually sold, got another one now though) for example, was my RV-5 and it's been on my board ever since, while I've been through A LOT of other pedals (probably not by ILF-standards, but but the ordinary pedal dude-standards, that is). Mostly thanks to that modulate mode, which is a huge part of my sound, usually paired with a lot more expensive delays, but still.

I've had bad experiences too, soundwise. I HATED the NS-2 I had and was never able to make friends with my PH-3. Got a PH-2 recently on the cheap though and have finally found what I want in a phaser. Then there's the "in-between" ones where the stock was ok, but modded ones (have a Keeley Tr-2 and BD-2) just really brought out their full potential.

Also, I had a DD-20 and an RC-20 a few years ago. I don't miss the sound but think NOTHING looks cooler on boards than those boss twin pedals. Just like the sterile spaceship feel to them, especially the DD-20. The "standard" pedals look cool too, only nowadays I'm such a snob I want "top-mounted-jacks-super-small-you-can-barely-see-it-but-it-might-make-room-for-another-pedal"-enclosures all the time.

In summary: PEDALS ARE COOL!

Is that small one the mini-Incinerator you got for Secret Satan?

Yup. :!!!:

The Reverb Machine and Echo Degrader get all the attention, but all of the Industrialectric stuff is superb. The few that I'm lucky enough to have are the heart of my rig, and I look forward getting more as they're available. (Can you guys stop buying RM-1n's for a second so Andrew can get to work on Incinerator V2? :poke: :hello: ) Andrew needs to design some sort of noise/trem/glitch'd goatkeeper-killer, and then I could survive the apocalypse with an IE-only board.

I just noticed that goroth gave the MT-2 a shout out. I loved the hell out of it because of the insane highs (and loved the eq)...it was the only thing that made me cut when fighting a bass player that insisted on playing in every frequency range. Worked really well driving the ehx frequency analyzer too.

But yea, the NS-2 sucked...(and I am not really a fan of the DD-20...just tried it out again but much prefer the DD-5 or 6).

Jeez, wish I had a pedal board just to post something on that last page though. I should just pick random stuff and put them on a board.

woah

Check the Cooper FX forum here, he should still have some available. It's an absolutely wonderful pedal and I'm going to take a second to whore it out because I love the video I did with it here:

Fuck. I did not need to see that.

Totally agree. I feel like I've recently outgrown my "Boss pedals are lame" phase.

You say it like you're disappointed in this. This board fucking rocks.

Not disappointed, but I know it's not where I want it to be. Still need to figure out what I'm doing with my 2nd CT5; probably going to move the Bitquest somewhere earlier in the chain, either pre or between dirt; need to deal with some power/noise issues; wire up my switch so I can move everything in the loop of the Superego to the main signal path; etc.

But yes, it's pretty fucking cool so far.

Purple is a thing in my family, so when I saw it was an option I had to get it.

I'm tempted by tales of dual RM-1N's, but I'd have to break into UG's house and get his green one to match...
