I am being super meticulous on my new board because it's smallish and I am trying to jam as much on there as possible. My plan is to turn my big board into a recording board using a bypass loop switcher with various types of pedals in loops, one each for octaves, phasers, distortions, fuzzes, delays and reverbs. The goal is to get a bunch of pedals off the shelf, powered, patched and easily accessible for trying different sounds. That board is bound to be a lot more messy.

Another question. I'm thinking of getting a new headshell from Splawn for my JCM800 2210. Should I go classic black or white?

classic black. all day.

i don't really like any amps that aren't black though. but marshalls always just look so awesome in their classic design to me.

In those pics i like the black...if that cloth was grey rather tham black i would go white

go white. I really hate if someone is getting something done custom or wherever they have a choice and they pick black. it's the standard for just about every amp/cab ever.

I actually had one guy ask for a quote on a cab and he wanted it tolexed, and when I asked what color he said black. I told him there is a 200 charge for getting the most boring, blend into the crowd tolex there is.

I am type "B" with a vengeance. It's not getting in the way of actually playing guitar yet.

Constantly swapping drive pedals is getting to be a bad (fun) habit.

B. I will tear down and rebuild shit every now and then, but I like my shit to be lined up and in order most of the time.

Glad the QM got to you safely. I miss it already but I really needed the cash to get a tag and insurance on this van so that helped me out big time. I'll be picking up another QM when my cash flow levels out soon.

No worries dude. I may try and pick one of those up since I'm assuming they can be found for dirt cheap. The Mystic is indeed a beast. Next on the list is probably an Arrows, which should be fucking tasty pushing the QM and Pharaoh.

I currently have borderline uncontrollable Silverburst SG gas. If everything works out perfectly (don't worry it won't) I may be able to swing one of the limited non robot piece of shit ones they did a few years ago.

Haha. Exactly. Might be too many available options to just get black when every cab and amp I've ever owned has been black.

Yea why stick with the same ol? hell to me If I'm to have a black tolexed head I rather it be ratted and road wore as fuck cause at least it's character to it. To me plain black tolex is like plain white walls.

But what color are your cabs?

Good point. All my cabs with the exception of an old Fender are 70s and 80s Peavey. Black with the aluminum stripes down the sides of the grills.

A white head on white cabs would look a lot better.

The white with silver grill cloth is an interesting idea but might be weird on a Marshall.

Also, does anyone want to buy a zvex fat fuzz factory for like $125? I need to get some money in my pocket FAST because shit is really really not going my way in life. Who wants to be the wind beneath my wings right now? EH? EH?

I'm pretty sure we've all had the discussion before but lots of Doom Roomers are into some old school screamo shit. I know Skip, SLK, BoatRich and myself are. I think Conky is into some shit, too.

Yuppers, I can dig me some Skramz / Early Screamo. The dirtier sounding and more passionate it is, the more I like it.

Got my Beta Lead back from the tech yesterday. He did a once over on the pots and jackets and replaced the driver transistor (I think) on the Power Amp board. Pretty cheap fix and he had it done in two days. When I took my RedBear into a different place last year it took them over a month and they were awful at communicating with me. I dropped the Beta Lead off on Friday. He called me Monday giving me an estimate and then called Tuesday at noon to tell me it was done.

Playing the Beta Lead was my first solid state at loud volumes experience. I was not disappointed. It has a distinct characteristic that is NOT tube like but I still love the sound. I'll definitely be pairing it with the RedBear and playing with the two of them as I think they'll compliment each other well with my setup.

the one downside is that I had to play it out of a sole 2x12 yesterday because it was the spare cab in the practice space yesterday. I haven't moved my cabs over there. And I'm now on the lookout for a new cab. Probably a 4x12.
