Just finished buttoning this up last night
flipping loving it so far
so many good sounds
used a blackbird stealth lite and their blackbird pedal tape
it's onespot powered if you are wondering (Daisychain allows all the boss to function together)
cables are hosa pancakes and one long old radioshack that Can't be killed
Clean Channel offered some wise counsel on setting this up right
and a bunch of other people hooked me up with good deals or sweet trades on pedals
I don't intend to rip this apart for a long time, should be a good grab and go for quite a while
Signal chain as follows
TU-2 HR-2 FZ-2 OD-2r (the r bothers me a bit) HM-2 PS-2 HF-2 RV-2 SD-2 CE-2 DSD-2 TR-2

SO CLOSE
that's really awesome, looks sweet!
i'd love to make my board all-Boss cos i use the DC-2/GE-6/RV-2/RV-3 a ton but i can't get any of the dirt peds to kick my RAT. the aesthetic unevenness is killing me.

yeah I almost replaced that pedal just based on the lower case r
Have you tried an FZ-2? It's not a rat by any stretch but it does some beast fuzz sounds

yeah I did have an FZ-2 at one point and absolutely love that one but i need low gain distortion and that thing is kinda chainsaw or bust

nope, I'll check those out! i have a MIJ SD-1 that's cool but too much toobscreamer-y mids and i play SS not tube so it isn't really ideal. had a DS-1 twice and didn't like it at all.

You have a great taste!

And the OD-2R is soooo much better than the OD-2, so try to live with that "R".

The chain is a bit confusing, though. At least in my eyes. Do you really want the RV-2 at that place?

Yeah I rearranged the chain a few times and this was the best place for it in my mind
For a few reasons
1 I like the verb to be able to push at least 1 dirt pedal
2 In worst case scenarios I can use the SD2 as a preamp so I want it near the end almost where an amp would go in a normal chain
3 I like the wobbly chorus to move the verb and if I want chorus into verb I can use the detune setting on the HR2
4 trem at end gives it more of an amp feel and lets me chop the trem
RV will be almost always on the plate setting and sits well in the mix where it is
board setup this way gives me the most dirt/verb/dirt/modulation combinations

Then it's awesome! You're the one who has to be happy with it. Your reasons are plausible.

Yeah, it's probably not conventional but It works for me
Didn't realize an OD2 was that much of a downgrade from the OD-2r
Some cool stuff didn't make the cut, may have to start another -2 board at some point

The OD-2R has much more headroom (OD-2R volume at 12:00h is as loud as the OD-2 in maximum position) and the Turbo mode's volume was slightly increased as well to make it perfect for solo lines. And of course you have the remote jack to switch between both modes. I really, really love this pedal and it can be used with whatever instrument I have at home. Okay, it's not the wisest choice for bass guitar, but it works great with my analog organ or my analog or digital synthesizers.
