Yeah, college was the beginning of the decade for me. I'm an old fart now, working for an internet provider.

Hi, this is Eric.

I'm in Detroit, and have been playing guitar, synths, and effects for about 34 years, on and off. Sometimes I build/customize my own guitars. I've dabbled in electronics but I'm more of a user/designer. Lately I've been helping a buddy design effects pedals and expect to start showing them off pretty soon now!

My hobbies are art, music, technology, not necessarily in that order. I like turtles and smilies :joy:

Duesseldorf...
I was born there but grew up here.
My wife is also German and we decided to go back.
I think its abetter quality of life..Better than Miami at least.
Have you ever been to D-dorf?
Fine sausage! :bob:

Well, no. I mostly familiar with Berlin and Munich. I've also had a short stop in Hamburg, Frankfurt and some other cities, that a cant remember right now. Usually the Germans er very nice people, and i REALLY dig all the wurst's af the sauerkratut and mustard i had in Munich.

I spent a weekend in Dusseldorf when I did my semester in Deutschland in college. Fine town, awesome beer :thumb:

I actually miss the döner kebab more than the wurst though. Goddamn do I wish I could get that over here somewhere

I’ve been to Kiel and Frankfort.
I really like Frankfort, got lost and rescued by a blond named Heidi who owned a beat up ’69 BMW limo.

I’m more of a Wiener Schnitzel, and hocks and potatoes fan myself.

seems like you're all kraut-crazy

düsseldorf is not far from where i live. it's the #1 place to get plastic surgery (around here)and show off your big car, hehe. oh, well, and it does look nice indeed ;)
also, kraftwerk & die krupps head from there.

if any of you get the chance to go to berlin, try to get hold of a "currywurst" at "CURRY 36" in Kreuzberg, it will blow your brains (and most possibly your pants as well).

@metalmariachi: a blonde named heidi in a bmw? did you think you were in as-chliché-as-it-gets-heaven? :p

just saying its a fine picture of bratwurst and sauerkraut.
Yeah I've lived in D-dorf for a short while before and it did seem a bit stuck up.
I really liked Koeln and it was a fairly short train ride from there.
BTW You guys have the most amazing transit system!I look foward to not having acar.
Are you in the "ruhrpott"?(not sure what that means but my wife says thats what the whloe area is called)

fine picture? check this out:

koeln is nice as well; i used to study there some years ago. even though it is not as stuck up as ddorf, it's even more expensive to live there. and yes, the transit-system is really good, compared to the permanently jammed highways in these areas :D

you should watch out telling people from ddorf that you like koeln. there's some ancient battle going on between these two. must be something about their differences in beer ("alt" vs. "koelsch"). i guess your wife can tell you ;)

and yep, i'm right in the middle of the "pott". that term derives from "ruhr" (which is the river connecting all cities over here) and "pott" (which is the german term for pot. like a jar. we used to be the biggest coal mining area back then. coal pot = "kohlenpott"). i am probably talking nonsense right now :thumb:

well, melting pot seems to be quite accurate. nearly everybody you meet around here has at least one polish oder slavian grandmother ;)
we used to have lots of guest-workers here and i suppose they still like the place. :) (such a lovely mixture of rusty pipes, abandoned buildings and green areas/forests, hehe)

speaking of military jets..how long ago was that? the barracks in my hometown are apartmens now (and have been for at least 26 years...).
small world, isn't it?
