what a Bundle of Joy Ryan put together. i Love the shirt/ stickers/ picks .. and My BitQuest!!
my back plate has some red and green spatter .. i think that's cool.
the Pedal itself looks so great, Ryan. very impressed.
i took a quick spin around the dial .. clean and dirty. Holy Ballz .. so many sounds and settings.
i took a few moments on a Dirty Flange Quest. man .,. airplanes and spaceships were blasting into space. i swear.
can't wait to try some mo' Quests'..

thanks so much for everything, again Ryan. You Rock :thumb:

Update - after playing around some more. the Clean Delay is so neat. the modulation (crtl 0) makes really cool glitch noises.
that speed up/slow down. and sound like ice dripping .. or little brooks of metallic water, er something.
AND .. the Dirt sounds out of this thing sound just Great!

Did you see the pic of all the back plates?? I made a weird cosmo cat thing. LOL. I thought it was appropriate for Ryan. if I could have I would have put pizza on it. :)

Glad people are getting these!!! So cool!

First thoughts: I would buy this for the flanger alone. It wouldn't replace my bf-2, but the way it melds with that high gain distortion is awesome. Dial it back on both the distortion and the flange and you can attempt to be Eddie van Halen all night long. And on the clean quest you can get a spot on the positive frequency and the depth where it gets all throaty like a small stone, except flangerised.

Unfortunately my eyes are bleary with tiredness otherwise I would just play all night. All the patches were rad, but it's going to be a struggle not to solely plug in that flanger tomorrow.

Hope you dig 'em, Ian, and thanks again! Taking a Frazz on a BitQuest.. now that's style!

breitnersn wrote:I don't know if it was ever asked or mentioned... What's the trim pot for?

The trimmer is an active bass control for your wet signal. Back when the BQ was just a distortion pedal I thought it important that people be able to set how boomy their distortion is. As a clean pedal I'd think everybody will just leave it flat like I set it, no cut or boost, just normal, making it kinda redundant.

Well, that was quick! Customs understood the urgency of my quest.

But it hasn't all been smooth sailing. We live in an apartment, pretty modern, and the postman has a key which allows him or her to lift the entire front plate off the postboxes for the whole building - I think there are 18 apartments in our building. So the bitquest just fit, which was awesome as it meant that I didn't have to head down to the post centre to collect it. BUT, while it fit in the actual postbox, it didn't fit through the slot - when you open the mailbox up with a key you only open the slot thing for your personal post box (obviously), which is smaller than the actual height of the postbox. And it was smaller than the height of the box the BQ came in!
So I had to go get my dagger+1 (exacto knife), roll my 20 sided die and score a critical hit on the cardboard box, without causing a fatal wound to the t-shirt within. Good thing I chose to play as a thief and had rolled fairly good scores on dexterity and strength, as I had to pick the lock on the chest (ie, rip the box open through the god damn mail box slot thing), pry the t-shirt out, to uncover the treasure within. Which thankfully fit through the slot, although it couldn't have been a millimeter taller...

Thankfully I wasn't waylaid by bandits on the way back up to the apartment, and now that the rest of my party (read 2 year old son) went to bed, it's time for some sonic questing!

Thanks Ryan and Adam and Jeff!

Awesome pic! And what an adventure haha, loved it Matt! What a hilarious problem to have and awesome way to solve it, you did a BitSurgery! Thanks again and I hope Ivan likes the weird sounds.

I think that's really cool how you sprayed the backs like that, every one is a surprise for me too and I think stuff like that is fun!

Right on, thanks for the thoughts Matt! It's a pretty solid flanger hey, basically the same controls as the Cosmichorus.. it's like a digital Cosmiflanger. When I do my testing I probably spend the most time on the distorted flanger patch, something about that slow sweep through the distortion is just so good sounding to my ears!

Close hey Uli! You can track it now at the Germany Post website, might have more up to date or accurate info than the Canada Post site. Hope you get it soon!

This weekend I'm making the last of the paid pre-orders plus Adam and Jeff's plus one that's going to be auctioned in May for Circuits To Cure Cancer. There's still 20 left, 18 nice grey etchers and 2 cool red splattery ones, tell your friends they need one! *smile*

Man I just started my quest at midnight last night and was up til almost 4am questing hard! So good, so many sounds yet to explore. Also, who knew digital distortion could sound this badass? I'm loving this thing, really crazy how much awesome was crammed into such a small pedal. Long live the Spin chip and kudos to Ryan for doing the homework required to program that thing. The sky is the limit it seems.

Now I gotta go to work ugh...

G&L Asat Special -> Dr. Scientist BitQuest -> Fender Deluxe Reverb

1. Filter / Clean Mode / Exp. Pedal
2. Flanger / Distortion Mode
3. Reverb / Clean Mode / Exp. Pedal
4. Bitcrusher / Clean Mode / Modulation

I definitely encourage you to use the BitQuest with an expression pedal, especially with the filter modes.

There are a lot of amazing possibilities in this pedal. They don't call it a quest for nothing!

well fuck. the hype is real. but so is my bank account

So, I've been playing around the BitQuest ALOT and I LOVE IT. It's just so digital

I used the pitch-shifter setting, my bass octave and some echo to create some wonderfully, shimmery drones (I actually zoned out on my floor for an hour listening to this strangely synth-like wall of wobbles). That echo/reverb setting is unreal, I feel like I'm shooting rainbows or something! That delay setting is a huge mystery to me, a wonderful, deep, and inviting one that I'll be exploring for a long while. I can't get over how good the filter sounds with the distortion, and really just the distortion. I mean, it's amazing! Everything about this pedal is digital in the best way possible! :yay:

Great! I love the 2nd clip. How did you do that, Josh?

What about a BitQuest sound sample thread where we post vids, clips and settings?

hey. thanks for posting my videos Ryan! :)
i didn't want to clutter up the thread with my stuff.

i should try and see if i can re-create that Rhythm ..
i was messing around with the modulation knob and set it pretty high - around 3 o'clock.
and it starting doing that kind of chewy, wobbly, feedback thing ... haha
delay time, and repeats set close to noon.
and .. i could be wrong. but, it seems like all the controls interact with each other?
the modulation sounds different with different time and mix.

i'm using the Dirty Flange and the clean delay the most at the moment.
Blue Strat - Jazzmascis - Tele.
Fender - Squier.
Dr. Scientist - Dirge - FuzzHugger - Montreal Assembly - Hypnodrone.
