I have the same practice pad. IMO way too much rebound. Maybe OK if you play a really really really high tuned 10" snare, but for "normal" drums it's way too jumpy. If you wanna build up speed, practice on a pillow or rolled up blanket or something equally soft. It absorbs ALL the energy from the punch, and you're forced to get the stick back up manually. If you do that a bunch of times the next time you're on an actual kit it'll practically play itself! :thumb:

Thanks for the tip, I'll probably work on this until I actually build up some skill then wrap a towel around it and go from there. I won't be able to actually play drums for a while anyways so any transition of feeling will be inevitable. I do enjoy the crack of a high turned snare though ;)

awesome, I'm getting into the same. got a fat ass bonus from work so I'm picking up a Carvin X100B tomorrow and ordering a BYOC rat or whatever it's called. so excited to finally start 'building' :love:
