thanks for the kind words fellas. I definitely don't suggest everyone needs to go super crazy bullet-proofing their board. I was just listing things I've personally run into. For example, my Boomerang and Wholly roller will definitely hum if I don't have foam between them. And the metal from the cable coming out of my H9 will hum if it touches the back of my board.

jwar - I've never used the Voodoo Labs stuff so I personally can't really comment if they are making noise. I have read incidents on TGP where people said they had a certain pedal to close to the VL power supply and it was making noise but a) I take anything on TGP with a grain of salt b) that could have been a super old ps or vintage pedal etc. so hard to say on that.

If you'd like a list that takes less than a month to read I'd advise asking about builders that don't use the enclosure for grounding :animal:

Yeah, well like I initially said, I don't know anything about electronics and apparently still don't. However, thanks D-day and Goroth for replies.

Thanks for the breakdown though dude. It really does help. I know some of the info on TGP is insane, but there is useful shit sometimes. I'm going to make sure they are spaced right, check to makes sure all my pedals have a good connection with the plugs (IE take the fuckers apart and make damn sure they are getting a good signal), and then decide if I'll lose my mind or not. LOL

It's probably the Toneczar shit. I'm almost certain. But I don't know how. The Openhaus is 18v at 45 ma, so it's got more than enough juice, but it worked fine on a isolated supply that was 250 ma? LOL. The Echoczar is 18v at 150 ma, and I'm giving it 200 ma. The Halophaze is 18v at 70ma. So these bastards are getting enough power. Ed from Toneczar was the one that told me they would work with the voltage doublers. So it's just weird.

It might be something I don't even know either. Like I'm totally missing something else. A bad ground in another pedal, a patch cable being grounded wrong. FUCK YOU PEDOLS!!!! haha

I always just start at the end of the chain and run my guitar through the last pedal then add in the next till I find the culprit. Usually works ok
Unless the PS is doing it to everything

I think I am running about 20 pedals on 4 power supplies right now and not having noise issues.

Hey, everybody! Another newbie here, popping his first time post cherry in the pedalboard thread. I've been lurking a couple years, actually, biding my time and learning about kickass pedals from the wizened ILFWizards. Finally got an actual board recently and took the time to put it together, so it seemed like time to join the fold. Nothing as crazy/rare/cool as a lot of the beauties that pop up in here, but it's more than capable of makin' some sweet, sweet noize. :joy:

Great first post! Lots of awesome pedals on there!

I personally love the Blackout Effectors Twosome and the Empress Phaser, and have both on my board right now.

The Twosome is so good. I want to get more fuzz but the twosome covers so much ground, it feels like theres not much of a point.
