The good and the bad. In the last two weeks I got to play with Melvins and meet Buzzo at Fest 13 in Gainesville, and Chris Spencer came to our FFF set in Austin and we hung out all night. I also lost a dear friend.

My condolences. The one thing I am taking away from this is how across the board, in pretty much every circle I move in, people are devastated by his passing. Not in a someone famous died kind of way, but on a more personal level. I've read a bunch of storys about the guy now, mostly about him helping out someone in need. These are all people who I respect and in many ways look up to and am inspired by. Quality people. Athon touched a lot of lives and left a deep impression. I wish I had gotten the chance to meet him. Seems he was an exceptional dude.

And riders, I know the motorcycle awareness thing always gets brought up, and people absolutely should be more carefull. It's true. But they are not. please develop the mental view of thinking every car out on the road is driven by an imbecile who is trying to kill you. Always assume they will do the wrong thing and take defensive measures as appropriate.

I do this with all people at all times.
Assume the worst, occasionally you get pleasantly surprised.

To Christian and all you guys local to that area/scene, again, sorry for your loss.
Athon seemed like a champ.

that rings so true. I was going down the road and a twat turned out from a side driveway with literally a second for me to slam on my brakes. they didn't even notice and just kept going like nothing was going on. I almost lost my shit and rammed the fuck out of the car from behind so I could beat the retard to death with my bare hands.

So many times have I been tempted to do just that....

In what can only be considered awesome news about people, making a change of pace, I scored a free coffee today because I acted on a whim and pulled into a little stand on the side of the road. The chick behind the counter said she didn't have eftpos but would do me a freebie because I went out of my way and it would be her "act of kindness for the day".
I said I'd pay her back later in the day but got tied up at work. Even though its my day off tomorrow I might drop in there anyway and fix her up.
Good brew, too.

That's awesome. You should definitely go back and repay.

Yeah, work owe me a voucher (I won it in a "do your basic duties and we'll reward you, because nobody is really doing them" comp). They didn't have it lined up for me today so I'll swing by tomorrow and grab it, pay the lady and get another awesome cup on the way.
Smokey grinds are pretty tasty.

lol at all of that. Innuendo and fart jokes are my two favorite things.

EDIT:

Also, got an email saying a big ass shipment from WGS will be on my doorstep tomorrow morning. Now just waiting on the cabs to get done.

One of the bands we used to play with long time ago has recently started putting their shit on bandcamp. I haven't talked to them in a minute so I'm not sure if they are getting back together or not. The guitarist ran a record label called Twin Earth that put out a Valkrye album and a comp of local bands covering Sabbath songs called "I Sold My Car For Rock and Roll". Dude has some connections. One of the guys from Dove gave him their LPC when he got married and he ended up with Matt Pike's Matamp.
