Longest fingers I've seen where on this Keyboardist for either Old Mans Child or Dimmu Borgir for a USA tour back int eh early early two thousands. I can't find any info on him but he could play two keyboards stacked on top of each other with one hand. Like literally 7 or 8 inch long fingers and he was damn near 7 ft tall.

Are there any doom bands with 7 or 8 string guitarists...everything I've listened has been 6...would be cool to progress some stuff with extra strings...i have no idea how, but someone who is better could work it out i guess.

I dunno about more popular bands but I play 7 strings 90% of the time.

Sheepishly, with my tail between my legs, I am letting the 8x10 go. It sounded really really killer with my gortar, but ultimately it's a stupid decision to own that and live several floors up

^^^ Very true. A good engineer can make mediocre equipment sound quite decent.
They actually do have good mics and some nice pres, which makes a huge difference. And the tracking and ISO rooms are decent, but it is in a basement and the board is nothing special running into pro tools. Which I guess is why I say modest studio. Sounds killer though. He mixes down to 2 track tape and then dumps it back on the computer to get a bit of tape warmth and compression in the process. We're not at that sage yet though.

I kinda agree and disagree...i think genres also are defined by the 'scenes' rather than the music itself which is more about the people that play the music and the fans and their way of life or outlook on life and music...its a combination of a bunch of things that define a genre. Thats my view anyway...

Yeah, the what people wear makes a huge impact, where they associate, what their morals are, etc. It all plays a part like you say.
