some of the closest people in my life are attempted suicide survivors. others deal with really crippling mental illness. when i saw the report and video link i didn't watch it. reality is hard enough for people without this garbage people make, let alone people glorifying it. i don't know of a word that expresses what i want to say in english, but in thai it literally translates into 'my heart is ruined' i guess or 'ruined/broken heart'. really at a loss for words on this subject...

So some moronic Youtuber does a thing that so incredibly morally/culturally/emotionally corrupt, in outrage everyone just shares the video, thumbnail and uses it for clickbait. How fucking hypocritical.
Whoa, what the fuck.
Only those dickhead Paul kids would think shit like that is okay.

I honestly have no clue what you guys are talking about, but I kind of don't want to know, based on the reactions.

I'd guess somebody offed themselves and it was put up as a YouTube video with a different description or something. Yeah I don't want to see it. I got enough problems already

Some youtuber went to the suicide forrest in Japan and stumbled upon a recent hanging, dude was kinda shook, but then started joking from what I saw, kinda disrespectful. Backlash ensued.

I can sympathize with the joking thing, because sometimes that's just the way you deal with something so fucked up that you can't sit with it. It's the posting of the video that's heinous. It's one thing to say and do fucked up shit because you're shaken up by something very emotional, but when you then decide to post it to your monetized account, that's beyond "oh shit, I was out of it!" and just fucked up. That's a different kind of disconnected from reality.

I don't know man, I actually don't have an issue with him sharing that video, Youtube is probably not the best platform for it though. The problem is that his fanbase are like preteens and shit who don't need to see a video that probably belongs on rotten.com, but at the end of the day, it is what is is. They blurred the dead guy's face and whatnot, but showed his purple hands. And yes, some people laugh when they get uncomfortable. I didn't catch the whole video while it was up, it just seemed very off that he was joking around after the discovery.

By all means talk about it, it's an important issue. It's just at some point your thought process should kick in about whether you're doing the right thing with the right reasons. Like even the apology came across as fairly self centered with little empathy.
I get that most foreigners fuck up basic etiquette in Japan, but that's usually something simple like tipping or walking down the street while stuffing your face with food.

There could probably be a separate thread for this but...regarding Japan...don't tip and don't eat and walk? I'm trying to go their at the end of this year so any helpful tips to make my week there as assimilated as possible would be great (I know I have to do my own research but I just saw this comment this morning).
Has anyone been to the club Vent in Tokyo? Sorry, carry on.

When you don't sleep all night and only wake up when you try to go to bed the following evening.

I wore -32dB earplugs to bed and the garbage collectors still managed to wake me up in the morning. That's how fucking loud they are.
