I was feeling like shit on a stick last Friday.. Friday night I bust into cold sweats and I'm shivering and can't stand up for very long, sick as hell all day Saturday, brown liquid coming out of one nostril.. then my face starts hurting. Yesterday I go to the minor emergency, yeah I have a severe sinus infection and some staff infection around my nose to boot! happy days! FML

Brutal

Yeah, not great! I feel pretty crappy man. I'm glad I went and got it looked at, they prescribed me some amoxycilin and some nose paste to get rid of the staph. I had a cold a month ago, and then the air quality here was super manure because a bunch of forest fires so my sinuses just finally had enough. I'll live. Probably

I yelled at my apprentice today. Not because he screwed something up but because he kept arguing about it not mattering and not being his fault, when it clearly was an issue and it was completely his fault. He is also the boss's son, so tomorrow morning will be fun. Knowing my boss, he will probably lay into his son too before he even knows the details. So I'm not really worried about losing my job or anything.

^^^^so I was sitting in a bar and a friend walks up to my table and slams a soft shelled turtle down at me, looks me in the face, and says ''dont ya wish when you come home your 50 yr old wife would come in the bedroom with a barely legal girl she found at the bowling alley and say here hun shes all yours, but no you come home from the bowling alley to take a shit and theres menstrual blood all over the toilet seat! so I grab my plush rabbit and head down to the basement to hammer any thing that looks like its asking for it and''... thats when I stop him, and chime in "wtf is this turtle for?"

I don't feel too well, and of course at the proper time to not have health insurance.

Yeah man It's too bad we get pounded on medical costs in this country. My son had pinkeye once and I got it, so I went to the minor emergency to get eye drops, that cost me $75.. then two weeks later at a birthday party I got it again from some other little kid.. The minor emergency wouldn't cut me a refill on the eyedrops.. so I had to pay $75 again to go back in and have them say to use the same eye drops.. again. So pissed.

I realize now that almost everything on the internet that doesn't include payments is a total shithole.
First Youtube starts shoving ads down our throats, but there was adblock.
Then Facebook starts filling the entire fucking universe with their shitty ads that can't be blocked.
And now, finally, Instagram is doing it Facebook style.
Fuck ads. Fuck Facebook/Instagram/Youtube/everything.
If ILF starts doing ads like this, I swear I will set this place on fire.

A couple years ago I listened to an interview with a guy who worked for Tripod in the early days, who invented the banner ad and the popup ad. He postulated that the era of big data and every app and social media platform bombarding people with targeted ads and gathering/selling their info is the fallout of the early days of the internet being run by people like him, who believed everything should be free, so the only way they could get paid was through ads. Which was pretty much unsustainable for any company over the long run, so they all began selling customer information to ad companies as a service to entice them to buy more and more expensive ads, in order to maximize profits. His opinion was that if everything had stayed more or less subscription based (like AOL/Prodigy/Compuserve, etc.) that the internet would probably be less ubiquitous, but more secure and benign as far as customer data hacks, selling private info and all that. Something interesting to think about.
I'm not against pay services for good content/services online. I have just ended up quitting almost every subscription based social media platform I belonged to eventually, because they started cool and then ended up transforming into catering towards a specific crowd that was not at all for me. See: Talkbass and Soundcloud for reference.
