My wife can be a pain in the ass, but she can sleep through full volume flux practices in the house. Every time that happens I thank my lucky stars.
Kinda with ya on the pedal. I don't really want Iommi's sounds. I want shades of them, but I like to delude myself into thinking I can get some sort of sound that is unique to me.

My wife sleeps through most of my jams late at night. But they are never very loud. I've woken her up a few times before, but she usually falls back to sleep after standing in the hallway looking into the living room staring at me until I notice, and then slowly stumbling back into bed half asleep

Thats...
That's not a bad idea. I'll have to try that.

just saying that its already been done, and done well.
If I have learned anything about the guitar world that statement is true a thousand fold for countless things. Gotta just find the version you personally dig.

its all worth a play, the Catbread is cheaper of course.
I wont preorder it without some very good clips of course.
I could also build something similar so ha the GAS gets deflated.

That's where I am at with a lot of gear now. I don't get excited for new pedals when I know I can build it. Now I have to lust after the crazy builds that people create.

Things I would GAS for are things I can't really make: EGC and other nice guitars, cabs, tube tape delays, ect

I should amend that to say I still would get GAS if I saw a OrMat but since I know I can build one its a very short lived feeling
