I'm finally writing the music I've always wanted to and I'm bored with my songs already. How do people play the same songs for 20+ years?

you're telling me. i've been playing the same 6 songs with my skramz band for a year. my doom "band" has only 5 songs and a cover. which has been a band for several years prior to me joining. and somehow getting a dedicated bass player killed the band. go figure.

Been given a ton more shifts than I wanted at work lately, really wanting a few days off and every time one nears and I look forward to it, someone asks me to cover for them. I can't bring myself to say no because I know Denmark is going to be expensive and general working-class habits that I can't seem to shake even though I'm definitely not working class anymore.
On the upside I've set the condition that if I cover for someone they have to bring me a 40oz Olde English because I'm still not over the novelty of them actually existing over here and it's providing me with near-limitless beer.

Wait, you've decided on Denmark? Do you know which city?

That's sweet man!
Nope, I live in Aarhus, the second largest city, in Jylland, but CPH is only a 3h/23$ busride away.
When are you gonna move here?

What gives with bands putting up ads on Craigslist that amount to... "Here's a laundry list of things we're looking for in a band member and nothing about our band. We gig constantly, we have BIG THINGS in the works, there is label interest, but we will not tell you who we are or what kind of music we play beyond generic genre (rock/rawk, metal, indie). So email us all your qualifications, a headshot and demo video and we might think about setting up a blind audition without ever sending you clips of our music. Must be able to pre-sell 50 tickets per gig to join".
I just imagine them imagining the nightmare scenario where they just post a straight forward ad and hundreds of people cry out in unison "HOLY SHIT, Avenging The Landscape, Altoona's #4 melodic post-metalcore band that has booked no less than 18 regional 3 city tours over the past 10 years is looking for a new bassist?! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?????!!!!"
Is this the right thread for this rant? I am mildly irritated to hateful about this shit.
Alternate/Bonus:
"We are a band looking for a (instrument) - what we're not looking for is (insert 40 obnoxious, petty insults to every kind of musician and band they've had a bad experience with) - so if you're cool and not a fuckbreath, hit us up" (location, genre and any pertinent information necessary for a musician's classified ad withheld)

Not cool, can't even do a proper retort cause I don't feel dissed.
Also, since when is that song not by Talking Heads?

I can think of several possible (glib) answers. They are:
a) on bad drugs
b) lobotomy victims
c) stuck with natural and chronic SFB
d) any combination of a) through c).
I gave up on using CL for anything a long time ago. Even the entertainment value dwindled and died.

I told some ILFers about this already, but you reminded me: had a CL deal go sideways this weekend. Dude calls for directions and starts ranting about communists, pinkos, and libtards before he even gets to my house. At that point, I ran down and grabbed the amp I was selling out of the basement and into the garage. I knew it would be a risk to have him anywhere near my wife or kids.
He never so much as turned the amp on. Instead he criticized every aspect of it, then offered me $250. I'd listed it for $275 (Blues Jr--already a steal, and I included a tilt-back stand). So whatever; I took it. He then told me he keeps a BLUES JR ON EVERY CONTINENT WHERE HE OWN HOMES AND RUNS BLOOZ JAMS. Glad I could help the cause by saving you $25. His justification for haggling: 'Because this is America.' He's not wrong; this is America. He counted out $350 and handed it to me, though. Very, very confusing.
He brought his son, who has some form of autism (he told me this). This obviously doesn't bother me, but he just let the kid wander around my garage, front and back yard (it is fenced), and porch, whipping my dog into a frenzy. The kid was in obvious distress after our 40-45 minute jaw session. We covered Hitler's vegetarianism, holocaust jokes, the stupidity of lesbian literature, property values in Alsace, his ex-wife's virtues, Thomas Pynchon, and many other topics that required no input from me. He obviously stalked me out beforehand, as he immediately started asking about shit that no one would ask another person unprompted.
He offered me Winston Churchill's four volume A History of the English-Speaking Peoples in exchange for a glass of wine at his house. Maybe I'll take him up on it.
Oh and he rolled his eyes when I told him I was selling my amp to pay for my solid-state Sunn PA and maybe some more pedals. He said he'd never used a pedal, and that he didn't think anyone should.

'How many Jews fit in a Volkswagen?'
'Two in the front, two in the back, six million in the ashtray.'
--A great CL deal; five stars.

Fucking people.

How does the human race survive with geniuses like that?
But the obvious question is why did you let him stick around so long? Why didn't you kick his sorry ass out right after selling him the amp?
