IMO the fuck has PLENTY of low end, it's not great if all you're looking for is low end, but I don't think you'd complain that it didn't have enough low end, and that goes for bass and guitar. I love that thing on guitar and bass, just as great for both

I'm more concerned about cutting through while maintaining some punchiness and bass. Not looking for pants-shitting lows.

HyperFuzzBreaux! :doom:

Dude, it's beyond me why the FZ-2 is overlooked so much. I actually tried a couple really nice boutique superfuzz clones, assuming they're better versions of the FZ-2, since they were just really good copies of the old shin-ei/univox pedals...

Sold everything, kept the FZ-2. More gain, thicker, and well...just unique, unlike anything out there. Cuts through a mix like a battering ram, it's about as subtle as an rpg. I'm guessing you know that already:) One of the most brutal sounding fuzz pedals from the world biggest effects company, that's currently notorious for their meh fuzz pedals. How's that for irony? :p

My main Fuzz. Even after cycling through a bunch of boutique stuff, just keep going back to it. Boss just did it right in the early 90s I guess :idk:

Dude, straight up. I keep wondering why nobody can best the FZ-2 even in terms of sheer volume.

I've not had the chance to try it out with the loudness or in a band context yet....but I'm getting all the signs of its true potential for brutality. My black forest is really enjoying being jacked up by it as well, so I can't wait to level cities with the two cranked up. Boss has done a heap of great shit, people just hate because they paid too much for their meh tones I think. Most ILFers are down with the whole, "who gives a fuck what it is or what it costs, as long as it blows minds and rapes eardrums, you're in business" mentality, so the hate isn't so strong around here.
Their new shit is, by and large, terrible, though.

Black Forest is my next purchase for this reason , glad to hear they work well together. Gonna be godlike.

I've been using the FZ-2 in a doom/sludge/punk trio context and I'm still blown away how well it sits on top of everything while still being so crushing. Best contrast between highs and lows (well, low mids) I've ever heard in a fuzz I think.

is there a fuzz face mode on the fz2 or different beast?

I believe the 1st fuzz setting is meant to sound like a Fuzz Face? I could be wrong. Mode 2 is where the magic happens though imo.

Besides the 'superfuzz on steroids" mode and the clean boost mode, there's the more 'classic' sounding mode, if you can call it that. Doesn't sound very fuzz face ish to me, it's not as smooth and 'musical' sounding imo. And I consider that a good thing btw:)

Isn't mode 1 and 2 on the FZ-2 just Tone 1 and 2 from the Superfuzz? I don't remember them sounding completely different, just one has scooped mids and on the other the mids are untouched.

That's what I thought too, but I've never played one.

No, that's pretty much it. The one with a "fuzz face" mode is the more recent FZ-5.

Tuned my bass to CGCG and droned out with this. DD7 only used as a looper.

Mine seems quiet as well, but it doesn't bother me so much as BAT pedals don't like a lot of input volume hitting them too hard. So I use the bf to fatten it up and eq, and crank the volume.
