It's nice to know how common this shit is.
I think there's no better feeling than telling a pushy customer that it's gonna be six weeks to repair something that I could probably fix in an hour if I was in a serious jam.
I've completely lost patience for customers that call up expecting all sorts of concessions out of me when they obviously haven't read my website that details all the different reasons why their repair won't be done in a week's time.

back in october a customer called and said they needed to bring their computer in to be repaired. they asked how long it would take. the administration team told her that it would take 3-5 business days.

customer said that she used the computer for business. demanded that she be treated differently than everybody else. administration team said they'd speak with the manager. they ask me. i tell them that based on current workload it's cool to quote her 24 hours.

they call her back and she demands it be done same day, while she waits around for it. they told her that we would not honor that. she said, "fine, i won't be in tomorrow as i had planned."

great.

she shows up the next day. we tell her 3-5 days since we weren't expecting her to show up. she leaves and doesn't drop the computer off.

i get it, you need your stuff and it's important to you. but lady we've got a business to run and it doesn't revolve around addressing ALL of your needs immediately. we have parts that may need to be ordered. we've got to triage that shit. all kinds of shit.

I had a guy that sent us a CD player to be repaired.
A CD player that needs to be tested inside of an intercom to function.
After we told him that.
His response? "Well, keep it until you can fix it."
That's not how it works. Even if it works in one intercom it won't necessarily work in the next because of all sorts of adjustments that are necessary.
Finally, after fucking around for a while, we told him that it couldn't be repaired and that it'd cost $8.00 to ship it back.
$8.00 to just get the thing back so you can put it back in the intercom it came out of and tell their customer that the CD just isn't gonna work.

It's been two months since we told him that and sent him the invoice, he (presumably) blocked our calls and decided never to speak to us again.
:picard:

Me and my fiancee work at the same place. She got written up today for being late due to having a flat. She told the manager before hand and she still yelled at her and wrote her up anyway.

Im so done. And still very numb.

My lack of education (and hence a decent paying job) is annoying me more than usual today.

Hope everything works out for y'all.

Have you tried different browsers?
Don't know if you guys have windows at the office or not, but maybe the website is being finicky with OS X.

I got it eventually, but it was unnerving to refresh my browser, knowing they could just pull the money twice...

Ah yes. The joys of self-employment. I guess I should just be thankful I don't have to run payroll by myself with the help of a god damn spreadsheet anymore.

Last two weeks have been shit. Fired four people in one week, had to present the $3M deficit to the president, reveal terrible survey results to department chairs...and I still have to identify which programs to cut in the next two years, slash the winter schedule, and target 15% of staff to lay off in the spring by Wednesday. FUCK
