Hahah that just means I've gotta put electrical tape on the DL8!
The soft touch switch on the DL8 is so I can loop faster than pressing down the whole footswitch pad. It makes my looping a lot easier that way!

Polytune Mini -> Holy Grail -> Volume -> MiniHawk -> Goodbye 24 -> El Cap -> DL8.

For someone who has tried out a lot of delays, how do you feel about the el capistan?

Well, I will say its my third, so take that how you want it.
I had one originally that I sold to get a Timeline.
I had another that I sold because I had an OLD DDM.
I got this one because I missed it a decent amount. There is just something about it, I'm not sure what it is, that I just jive with. I apparently use more wow and flutter and less spring reverb on it than I did when I had it the first time, but I really dig it. This one is a V1. I don't really see myself ever needing a V2 because I don't run any sort of stereo mod into it. I realized in having it back again that the Spring Reverb can get a little harsh when you have the mix of it up a decent amount, but when you have it fairly low it just expands the delay sound even more.
If you compare it directly to a DMM and only want one delay on your board looking for an analog style delay, you will probably sell it and keep the DMM. But I've really been trying to dive into the secondary functions of each knob and taylor it to my liking. I overbiased the tape a little hotter, added a touch of spring reverb, boosted the low end content under the tape age knob, and don't use any crinkle. But I really dig it.
My biggest issue with EVERY delay I have tried is how it stacks with distortion and whether it turns to mud. This one can definitely turn to mud in certain situations, but for what I do, I make it dark enough that it adds atmosphere without getting sloppy. It definitely depends on what and how you play, but it's definitely here to stay.
I'm also quite fond of the sound on sound mode. It's really inspiring and different from any looper that I have tried.
Lastly, it sounds good at both low and high volume. It almost seems to blosom more with volume, but either way, it's just great. I've got good memories attached to the El Cap, I'm not sure if that's part of it or not, but I really enjoy it.
I'd never buy one for the new price, because I simply don't spend that much on pedals anymore, but it's not going anywhere.

Thanks for a thorough answer!
Been a mix of curious and skeptical for a while now. Delays are hard to be satisfied with...

No problem dude. And I understand. With how pricey they are I don't blame you for really thinking about it before picking one up. The cool part is, they hold their value really, really well.
And I completely agree with you about the delays being hard to be satisfied with. I've played a billion, and while I like the El Cap a lot, I still want another one just as back up to do different stuff with, you know?

Yes know exactly. Been using the Disaster transport SR the last year, which is good with trails, mod, reverb and last but not least : two delays in one.
But that doesn't stop me from looking constantly... Especially after watching Fulltone Tape Echo demos. But that thing is way to fragile to travel and gig with. Also too expensive.
Thanks again, will try one at a shop.

No problem dude!
I feel you on the tube tape echos. So dreamy, so awesome. But I would worry horribly about it

Leaving this here. Never has it felt so bad to go for a drink with a friend than tonight. I wish I could have spent some more time with the timeline, my new babe in the board. Now it's into the cold water, first time I really get to spend some time with her is at band rehearsal.
