Believe me, I'd love to give modular a shot, but playing actual music with other musicians is still a drive of mine, and modular is not exactly the most efficient way of doing that.

Second suggestion: start a covers band of your original band?

move here, we do a two bass player cover band. but only the worst music of the 80's.

...... my wife has control of the music played at the house, and she has....... interesting...... musical tastes.

I think I would like to have a project with another person or two so there could be vocals. I know the reality of my life situations makes it hard because I travel a lot for work, kid's activities, etc I could fit something very part-time in.

Ultimately, I like being able to walk into the music room and getting a beat going and making weird noises over it. I still play out a bit with the modular and I still mess around on bass. I am trying to make recording a more regular habit so that I have something to show for what I am doing.

If you view Talkbass as a safespace for middle aged neckbeards then it becomes a bit easier to understand, if not tolerate.

Once you get past the fedoras, the borderline sex-offence drooling over hot singer babes, the importance of having an all Strymon pedalboard for going direct into the board at church, the all-consuming sense of entitlement and the constant tug of war over the best basses in the whole wide world costing $200 / $20,000 it's not actually an entirely terrible site.

One thing that puzzles me though, what on earth is the whole "carrots" thing about? I've always assumed that it was a rand-lolz humour substitute for the unimaginative but am I missing something?

I think you are right about carrots.
Apples and Oranges... carrots are orange... I think. That's what I always thought it was. It was around before I showed up over there in 09.

Is that giving too much credit though?

Think I joined there about '07, if not earlier. Didn't seem to be as bad then. But then I bought a Pitchfactor off a lovely chap from the 'Murica on there because nobody where I live had even heard of Eventide so I might be biased in that regard.
