It drives me insane that customers who tend to nag the fuck out of me and call once or twice every week expecting their repair to magically be finished suddenly drop off the map when it comes time to pay.
Consider implementing a late-fee/nuisance pricing contingency and only work by contract, agreed upon and signed before beginning any work. If customer doesn't pay within 72hr (or 1 week w/e) of project completion and unsuccessful attempts have been made to collect payment, a 10% weekly charge is added, any unpaid bills after 30 days will be considered abandoned property.
I do electronics repair, most often with customers from across the country, so contracts would be an unnecessary extra step.
I rarely get people that don't pay within a week (usually at the very end of that week

), but it drives me insane when they don't pick up the phone so I can get their payment info, especially when I don't have an email to just send an invoice out.
In any case, I do have the abandoned property policy just to keep from screwing around for months dealing with people (I had one woman send me their intercom for repair then move back to Korea without notifying us of anything), so I'm covered on that end.

My mother passed away on tuesday. In a way, it was good since she was heavily reduced by the cancer the last few weeks, but obviously it also sucks. So yeah. As mentioned, I'm not super comfortable about posting personal stuff on here, but since ILFriends are IRLfriends, yeah. Fuck cancer.
Oh, and I've got the SS stuff sorted, so I still have ILFmas to look forward to.

Sending you my love, bro. My grandmother raised me for half my life and I watched her suffer and finally lose the battle to cancer. It's the worst fucking thing.
The only plus side was getting Nana to smoke weed for the first time since the 70's.
I'm actually 4 days away from moving back to that house for financial reasons. My kid sleeps in the room she passed away in
He sleeps really well though so

thanks Nana?

I'm sorry about that, bud.
Went through the same thing with a childhood friend.
The only comforting thing was that, at least, he wasn't in pain anymore.

Damn man, hope you're doing well. I had the same thing happen to me, but I was only 11 or so when it happened.

Fuck cancer. Your mother seemed like the sweetest person. She was so proud of you, that much was evident. I'm kicking myself over never having gotten to meet her IRL. Love you, buddy. I'm here whenever for whatever.
