Grats! I'd stop at two cuz zone defense is a bitch. They're fun to brainwash though...my 5 year old is obsessed with Songs for the Deaf.

And Deftones is is just one of those bands that I grew up listening to, each album reminding me of a particular stage in life (I was 21 when Adrenaline came out...young drunk and pissed). I hated the nu metal they got lumped into, but they had a unique sound that really stood out (heavy and feels). Not my 'desert island' band by any means. Tool was a game changer for me as well but I rarely listen to them anymore.

and I stopped listening to Opeth after Orchid.... Kinda lost interest when all of a sudden Mikael looked like John Lennon and half the band left.....

Skip, I went with dhgate.com Was a bit nerve wracking but it showed up looking like the pictures. Some of the fit and finish stuff is not so great but everything is in the right place and worked on arrival. If anyone is thinging about doing this, be prepared to recieve an instrument that will need a lot of work. This one showed up intonated and tuned so I think they may have played it at the factory, but it's not out of the question to get one that nobody has even tuned. Most of the pots were loose and all the plastic was pretty rough and needed trimming to get rid of rough areas. The wiring scheme made no sense at all. Last night I drill a path from one side to the other and wired up a 3 way so I can have the choice of 12, bass, or both out of one jack.

thanks!!! I never play any guitar I get until after I set it up, so needing some work isn't an issue to me as long as everything is in the right place and the neck isn't twisted beyond repair.

yeah I figured, but I don't want to paint to rosy of a picture in case any casual lurkers are paying attention. If you work on your own guitars and have minimal luthier skills, good idea. If not, maybe try to find one on craigslist you can play with first. I still look at it as a gamble, with Senor Pinnacles banana bass in mind.

Opeth peaked in my mind with Blackwater Park. Such a dark, heavy, even doomy album. It's a shame they went full prog.

Thanks for the input about good basses. Another question: What would you consider a "loud" bass rig? Would it have to be at least a half-stack? I have no idea how to pick wattage on bass amps.

Depends on what your guitarist is playing with and how hard your drummer hits.

You should be relatively fine with, say, a 2x15 or a 4x10 and ~300 solid state watts for most things.

theres as many variables as there is answers to that question.

do you need enough stage volume to compete with a 65 watt peavey bandit?

or me, axas, ancient and lambkiller all at once?

do you wanna feel the bass in your chest? your throat? behind your eyes?

how big is the room?

or is it what do I consider loud? ive never heard a bass rig loud enough to suit my desire to punish myself.

Interesting points. I guess the way I see it is a 100w guitar amp would obviously be considered loud. If you're playing small gigs no one will probably give you a hard time over a 50w either. So could I somehow think of it along those lines with certain bass amp wattages?

Get a beat up used ampeg fridge (8x10) for like $300-350 on craigslist, and then a Ampeg B2-RE (SS 450w>4ohm) used for like $150-200 and you've got yourself an "industry standard" bass rig that takes pedals surprisingly well, won't break down, has a built in DI for clubs, and is loud enough to compete with a 100w full stack for $500.

I get Jazz, I get Classical, I get a lot of Pop, I get Classic Rock, I get most of the bands within those genres, but The Beatles, some of their songs are awesome, but then others annoy me, and they have a lot of 'filler' material. I feel like people loved them and praised them so highly because they were one of the first to write happy music that people could dance to and appreciate, like Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson did in their respective generations and genres. But I get those two, and in fact like their music a lot. The Beatles I just can't help but find aggravating, and I don't have a concise reasoning behind so.
